| Abstract: | After the failure of the ＂Yongzhen Reformation＂ which Liu Zongyuan had himself involved in,a sense of melancholy had been haunting Liu till his death.At the same time,Liu kept trying various means of palliating his melancholic sorrows and from time to time his pains paid off.Therefore,to some extent,we can say that it was Liu＇s tragic fate,melancholic sentiment and palliative means that combined together to bring out the best in his literary creations,thus helping him to yield outstanding achievements in the literary field. |
