通识教育还是学术英语——大学英语后续课程方向探究

摘    要:大学英语教学内容的改革究竟是通识教育还是学术英语,笔者以为不可一概而论,而应充分考虑不同的学校类型、学生水平和学生需求等因素。对普通本科院校学生英语学习需求的调查发现:一方面,基础英语仍不能取消;另一方面,应加大力度完善英语后续课程的建设以满足学生强烈的学习需求;另外,通识英语选修课程相比学术英语更受学生青睐。

Abstract:It is difficult to draw a conclusion whether the content of College English teaching should be based on ELE or EAP.Types of colleges.Students’ different levels as well as students’ learning needs should be taken into consideration.An investigation into students’ needs in English learning shows that: on the one hand,General English should not be eliminated at the present stage;on the other hand,follow-up English courses should be implemented more satisfactorily.Furthermore,students prefer ELE more to EAP in choosing the selective courses.
