Background: There is a growing interest in investigating attitudes towards science and views of Nature of Science among elementary grade students in terms of gender, cultural backgrounds, and grade level variables.Purpose: The purpose of this study is to examine the attitudes toward science and views of Nature of Science among Spanish students, Spanish students of gypsy ethnicity and second-generation Spanish students with east-European heritage, and to determine if their attitudes are related to their views of Nature of Science.Sample: Data for this study was gathered from seven elementary schools in Spain, forming a convenience sample of 149 students enrolled from 2nd to 5th grade.Design and Methods: The Nature of Science Instrument (NOSI) and an adaptation of the Test of Science Related Attitudes scale (TOSRA) were used. Follow-up structured interviews were performed with 15 participants.Results: Regarding gender, boys had better attitudes toward Science than girls but more naïve views of the empirical Nature of Science. In relation to cultural background, second generation Spanish students with east-European heritage reported significantly better attitudes toward Science than Spanish students and Spanish students of gypsy ethnicity. No differences in Nature of Science views were found. Concerning grade level, third graders had more positive attitudes toward Science than fifth and sixth graders and more informed views of the tentative Nature of Science. Finally, no relation between Nature of Science views and attitudes towards Science were identified.Conclusion: This study stress the need to address the steady decline in positive attitude toward Science and to improve students’ views of Nature of Science from early elementary grades, and to use gender and culturally inclusive science teaching strategies. 相似文献

The purpose of this study was to identify the major science education programs in the United States, where the science education
researchers published their research. This research is the first study of the scholarly productivity of science education
programs at domestic institutions of higher education. Each issue of the eight research journals (Journal of Research in Science Teaching, Science Education, International Journal of Science Education, Journal of Science Teacher Education, School Science and Mathematics, Journal of Computers in Math and Science Teaching, Journal of Science Education and Technology, and Journal of Elementary Science Education) published in the 1990s provided the author(s) and their institutional affiliation. The resultant ranking of raw and weighted
counts for the top 30 science educations programs shows variation in journals where research was published. Overall, regardless
whether the total number of publications (raw) or weighted rating there was 90% agreement among top 10 and 70% agreement among
the bottom 10. Potential explanations for variations and uses for rankings are discussed. 相似文献

Conclusion Currently the 26 films in the Science Territory series have been shown to audiences who watch Channel 8 commercial television
in the vicinity of Darwin. They are still being shown to audienc who watch Imparja Television. There are no plans at the moment
to shown Science Territory for any extra time on either Channel 8 or Imparja, once the Imparja programmes are completes. There
are plans however to develop materials to complement the programmes, which could be used in schools and there are also plans
to repeat the success of Science Territory and to expand it on a national basis to a series of programmes to be called “Science
Oz”.
This research note has described of the Scienc Territory project which has attempted to improve students' and parents' attitudes
to science. It has alo attempted to explain how the issue of determining the effectiveness of the project has been addressed.
Overall, Science Territory proved to be an interesting, exciting, successful and whorthwhile venture, particularly for the
small scientific community of the Northern Territory. It also appears to be unique both in Australia and worldwide. There
are therefore lessons that science educators can learn from this about new ways of improving students' attitudes to science.

利用问卷调查法,收集中国和瑞典高校学生对瑞典高校教学质量评估数据,综合利用相关分析、主因子分析法对中瑞学生的调查数据进行定量和定性分析。结果显示:①在课程学习、文献阅读、论文写作以及学习与娱乐时间上,中国大学生的评价得分整体上高于瑞典大学生;②年龄、教师印象、课程丰度、绩点期待、考试紧张程度以及论文兴趣是影响课程学习和教学评价的关键因子。 相似文献
