Five experiments are reported in which rats were given CS-shock pairings and then permitted, in the absence of shock, to perform a hurdle-jump response that led to CS offset. In Experiment 1–4, the animals failed to learn the required response. Although several procedural variations were employed, the experimental groups continued to perform no better than backward-conditioned controls. In Experiment 5, some animals were punished for remaining immobile during a single trial at the start of hurdle-jump training. These animals performed significantly better than nonpunished controls and better than any group in Experiments 1–4. The results support the idea that the major role of the CS in escape-from-fear situations is to activate an innate motivational system which chooses between the species-specific defense reactions of freezing and fleeing.  相似文献

Most students think animals are more interesting than plants as a study topic believing that plants are inferior to animals because they are passive and unable to respond to external challenges, particularly biological invaders such as microorganisms and insect herbivores. The purpose of this study was to develop an inquiry-based learning unit, the Fighting Plant Learning Unit (FPLU), which focuses on plant defense responses to biological stimuli. The study also investigated students’ perceptions of the FPLU implemented in a constructivist classroom. A total of 31 Thai science majors from grade 12 participated in this study. Multiple data-gathering techniques (quantitative and qualitative) were employed: conceptual testing, concept mapping, the Constructivist Learning Environment Survey questionnaire and semi-structured interviews. It was found that from their active participation, the students developed a better conceptual understanding of plant defense mechanisms. In addition, they appeared to have positive attitudes toward the FPLU as evidenced by their preference for inquiry-based teaching in a constructivist learning environment. Finally, their perspectives on and appreciation of plants as active organisms had been favorably changed by the experience.  相似文献

The following study describes a creative application of anatomical principles in the instruction of self‐defense. Undergraduates at the University of Kentucky were invited to a special lecture that featured a series of self‐defense moves introduced by a local police officer. Following a demonstration of each self‐defense tactic, the students were briefed on the anatomy of both the victim and the assailant that contributed to the overall effectiveness of each move. This approach was unique in that students learned critical knowledge of self‐defense while reinforcing anatomical principles previously introduced in class. Moreover, this integration of topics prompted students to think about their response to potentially dangerous situations on campus. 目的:考察工读学生使用防御方式的特点,了解性别、学生类型、年龄和自尊对防御方式使用的影响。方法:使用防御方式问卷(DSQ)和自尊量表(SES)分别对78名工读学生和126名普通初中生进行测试。结果:(1)工读学生较普通生更多的使用投射、被动攻击、潜意显现、抱怨和退行五种不成熟的防御方式和伴无能之全能、隔离和消耗倾向三种中间型的防御方式,更少使用升华这种成熟型防御方式,工读生的掩饰性较低且自尊水平更低。(2)自尊水平对工读生不成熟的防御和普通生不成熟的防御都有显著的预测作用,性别对普通生成熟型防御方式有显著预测作用。结论:工读生防御方式的主要特点体现在他们对不成熟防御方式的使用程度显著高于普通学生,自尊水平是工读学生使用不成熟的防御方式的一个显著的预测源。  相似文献

采用父母教养方式评价问卷(EMBU)和防御方式问卷(DSQ),对390名年龄在14~22岁的五年制大专生进行施测,探讨防御方式的特点及家庭教养方式与防御方式的关系.结果表明五年制大专生防御方式的应用以成熟型防御方式为主;防御方式在年龄、专业方面差异显著;母亲偏爱被试对成熟型防御方式有显著预测作用,父母过分干涉对不成熟型防御方式有显著预测作用.  相似文献

OBJECTIVE: To determine the relationship between use of defense mechanisms and experiences of child maltreatment and cumulative victimization among homeless youth. METHOD: Twenty-five homeless youth were individually interviewed regarding their victimization experiences and coping strategies. Use of defense mechanisms was assessed using the Defense Mechanism Rating Scale. RESULTS: Relationships were demonstrated between use of defenses and specific as well as cumulative victimization experiences. All levels of defenses became more pervasive in response to victimization, but this was not a predictor of overall immature defensive functioning. CONCLUSIONS: Clinical and program interventions to engage homeless youth need to incorporate an understanding of the relationship between defenses and victimization in order to be effective in maximizing upon the strengths of this population.  相似文献
