Eight professional counselors who routinely role‐play as clients in 1 counselor education program participated in a focus group investigating their portrayal experiences. Data were analyzed using interpretative phenomenological analysis, which resulted in 3 superordinate themes: missions, influential factors, and repercussions. 大学生社会实践是一项系统工程,而辅导员在大学生社会实践工作中具有不可替代的作用。辅导员在大学生社会实践中角色弱化,自身是内因,大学生、高校与社会等是外因。辅导员引领大学生成为专门人才,是我国高等教育培养目标,辅导员在大学生社会实践中起到协调场域、拓展空间、推动创新等作用。从辅导员的工作机制来看,其角色应定位为组织策划者、指导参与者、安全管理者、总结评价者和成果推广者。 相似文献

The ultimate criterion of counselor competence is generally recognized as the ability to effect adaptive changes in the cognitive, affective, motor, and/or somatic behavior of clients. Counselor preparation programs, therefore, ought to be organized to facilitate and insure the acquisition of this capacity. Systems analysis offers a useful approach for the redirection of counselor education. Although fairly recent to higher education, the broad concept and specifications of due process have had a major impact on the day-to-day operations of educational institutions. The due process concept and its accompanying rights and responsibilities is particularly applicable to counselor education programs in situations where a student is terminated from a degree program. This article discusses a recent United States Supreme Court decision involving a medical student in which the Court established guidelines for academic dismissals and terminations that are now applicable to counselor education programs. 相似文献

Prepracticum service‐learning (PPSL) was investigated through a qualitative case study of a counselor education program. Participants were PPSL instructors, coordinators, and alumni of the selected program. As it relates to the counselor education program under study, this article illustrates perceived effects of PPSL on student counselors' overall development and comparisons of PPSL and practicum training. Distance education has experienced soaring development over the last decade. With millions of students in higher education
enrolling in distance education, it becomes critically important to understand student learning and experiences with online
education. Based on a large sample of 11,351 students taught by 1,522 instructors from 29 colleges and universities, this
study investigates the factors that impact student evaluation of instruction in distance education, using a two-level hierarchical
model. Key findings reveal that in a distance education setting, gender and class size are no longer significant predictors
of quality of instruction. However, factors such as reasons for taking the course, student class status and instructor’s academic
rank have a significant impact on student evaluation of learning and instruction. Findings from this study offer important
implications for institutional administrators on utilizing the evaluation results and on developing strategies to help faculty

In this study, we use a mixed-method systematic literature review of articles that include African American counselor education doctoral student participants in the research. From this corpus of inquiry, we provide an opportunity for counselor education researchers to lead the way with inclusive scholarship and the use of strengths-based frameworks. This study was a follow-up investigation on the counselor's role in community mental health. We surveyed 170 multiservice mental health agencies to evaluate counselor job performance. We received 150 responses. In general, we noted that master's degree level counselors delivered direct care services in a competent manner. The findings also indicated that counselor education departments should consider strengthening student knowledge of psychotropic medication, psychopathology, individual assessment, and use of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-III) (Williams, 1980). Finally, analysis of the data suggested that counselor educators should encourage students to pursue continuing education in program evaluation and budget planning. 相似文献

Using confirmatory factor analysis and G Theory analysis, this article explores the reliability and the validity of a short version of the SET37 questionnaire for students’ evaluation of teaching (SET). The results show that this instrument can be used as a valuable diagnostic instrument for gathering student feedback in internal practices and procedures aimed at both monitoring and improving the quality of instruction in higher education. 相似文献

The authors present the findings of a qualitative study (N = 33) of doctoral student persistence in counselor education programs accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (2001). Using in‐depth interviews with students representing 17 different doctoral programs, the findings revealed factors that influenced students' decisions to persist or leave their counselor education doctoral programs. A key determinant in attrition or persistence decisions was a match between the students' goals/expectations and the faculty members' expectations and goals for the program. Implications of the findings for program selection, recruiting, and student retention are discussed. 相似文献

The development of cognitively complex counselors has been identified as an important component of counselor education. However, there are no models to provide direction for programs to systematically promote student cognitive growth over the entire course of their graduate education. In many counseling programs, the faculty adviser is the one professor who has interactions with a student from admission through graduation and, thus, could serve an important role in coordinating efforts to facilitate student cognitive development. Toward that end, the authors propose a structured advising model to assist faculty advisers in facilitating the cognitive growth of their advisees. 相似文献
