In order to find out whether the English learning strategies specified in the Requirements have been used by the junior middle school students whose English studies are guided by the current Syllabus,how frequently they make use of them,and whether there are any disparities between the specifications of the Requirements and the current conditions of the students using English learning strategies,the author of this thesis attempt to find out the answers to three questions:1) How is the general condition of the students using the learning strategies and what problems exist? 2) Are there any differences with statistical significance in using English learning strategies between male and female students? 3) Are there any differences with statistical significance in using learning strategies between successful and unsuccessful students? 相似文献

Vocabulary is the basic unit in the language. It’s one of the core parts in the language, and it plays an important role in improving students’ language ability. Thus, vocabulary learning strategies play an obviously important part in the whole process of language learning. By studying the theories of the second language acquisition learning found by linguists at home and abroad, especially the vocabulary learning strategies, this research tries showing some explicate vocabulary learning strategies systematically, in order to help Middle School students use English vocabulary learning strategies more efficiently, which can improve their learning efficiency and enhance their ability of learning by themselves. The purpose of this research is to examine how large English language vocabulary is used in elementary,middle and high schools in China in order to plan for teaching how much English vocabulary college students learn in the first two years to develop general English ability.One corpus is used to examine how many high-frequency words are included in elementary,middle and high school English vocabulary and Vocabprofile and Text Lex Compare of on-line tool-http://www.lextutor.ca/are used to.There are three interesting points arising from the analysis of the three word lists.First,most of the words consisted of basic-level words.Second,from analysis of the degrees of word repetition,students only learn 2208 new words and there are1812 repeated words in the three stages.Third,from analysis of how much coverage of the three vocabulary families each of the three base lists provide,99.9%of the running words are in base word list one,two and three.Based on these viewpoints,basic words should be identified scientifically and educationally for Chinese learners of English. 相似文献

Listening strategies are important in English learning and teaching. They are highly effective in developing learners’ listening comprehension ability. This paper firstly examines the theories of learning strategies and the uses of them in second language acquisition (SLA) and then reviews various research findings on strategy usage, such as the types of learning strategies used by good listeners, effective strategy training, and the teaching of strategies explicitly. The paper goes on to illustrate listening comprehension strategies involving top-down and bottom-up processes and provide with research evidence showing that using listening strategies can improve listening comprehension. Finally, the paper offers suggestions and principles for language teachers about how to teach listening strategies in second language classrooms. 相似文献

Grammar is an important aspect of English language pedagogy in China and is taught as a subject of study in Chinese primary and high schools. Despite studying grammar for several years, however, high school graduates find it difficult to express their ideas in English especially when they are asked to write essays at university. This article reports a study that investigates students＇ views regarding the study of grammar when contextualized to their writing courses. It was found that students appreciate contextualized study of grammar as opposed to isolated learning of grammar using memorization, drills, and practices. The study suggests that a shift in the aims and methods of teaching English in high schools is necessary if students＇ preferences, which are consistent with research literature in second language teaching, are to be taken into consideration. 相似文献

A specific application of task-based learning in teaching vocabulary to young learners and a complete task cycle using role play to present vocabulary in China’s private language school would be described in the study. The participants aged between 7 and 9 are thought to be starters according to their language competence in Common European Framework of Reference for language. The rationale for stages in the task cycle will be fully explored with reference to Piaget and Vygotsky’s theory in teaching young learners. The advantages of the adoption of TBL with young learners will be illustrated and some possible problems in implementing TBL in China, a representative country of Confucian-heritage culture would also be discussed in the paper. The study indicates that young learners in China are quite welcome this new approach in their English classes, but the targeted learners’ age and background information need to be taken into consideration when actually implement this approach. 相似文献
