产业评价对于产业的发展具有指引作用.目前,出版产业缺乏一套客观、科学的评价机制和体系.建立出版产业评价体系,需要着重考虑出版产业特性,体现产业属性与意识形态属性的结合.本文认为:要平衡对社会与行业、使命与码洋、宏观与微观、硬性与软性、模糊与量化这五重关照,从而构建新的出版产业评价体系,实现产业评价的合理化与制度化.  相似文献

随着期刊市场纸本与电子共同出版模式的形成,以及期刊出版业的垄断集团化,为了获取高额利润,一些出版商采取纸本与电子版捆绑销售模式来销售电子期刊数据库,其捆绑模式有保留现有纸本订购、规定一个最低订购额以及提供E-only和纸本+电子捆绑三种形式。随着图书馆馆藏数字化,出版商的纸本捆绑销售出现了一些转变,有的出版商允许用户将纸本刊转成电子刊,有的允许用户取消纸本载体转而支付电子内容费,有的取消纸本捆绑启用E-only模式,但这些转变并没有给用户节省多少费用,并没有在真正意义上取消纸本捆绑,只是出版商换了一种销售方式而已。  相似文献

The Arab print publishing industry is characterized by variety and complexity due to a combination of geographical and cultural diversity. This has resulted in Arab publishers facing a number of challenges, and this article aims to shed light on some of the most common problems faced by the industry—distribution, censorship and piracy—as well as examining the impact of digital books on this fledgling industry and how digital publishing can be used to overcome some of these problems.  相似文献

The community of scholars and the scholarship industry coexist in a symbiosis. It is sometimes claimed that computers could take over the role of libraries as information migrates from print to electronic transmission, but computing should properly be seen as a new element in the publishing industry while libraries are the property of the community of scholars. There is a wide range of intellectual material, from data through information to works of understanding and imagination, and no single medium is best for every purpose. Computers have much to offer at the data end of the range, but print remains the choice of users for works requiring extended exposition, as well as current awareness publishing.  相似文献

Describes some of the historical problems and technological advances that make electronic publishing so attractive as an alternative to print. But while the future may be now, it is not without complication. Indexes and the texts to which they point have traditionally been print products; many of the same problems plague both as electronic products. While many of the issues are still unclear, and many of the solutions only tentative, the pattern is unavoidable: electronic publishing is a growth industry and an expanding market; indexers need to adapt their practices to survive.  相似文献

Considerable changes are taking place in the publishing industry, and to survive publishers cannot sit back and wait for the changes to take effect. With e-books supposedly pulling ahead in the publisher’s race, the publishing industry must revise its business models to adjust to new demands. While e-books are attractive, print is still the major revenue engine within the world of publishing, and digital print is the future. Considering the entirety of the supply chain, it can be seen that digital book printing books saves money, supports more titles and increases efficiency. There is a different way to get a better bottom line, and publishers must consider the whole value chain, not just the unit price.  相似文献

The purpose of this paper is to investigate how changes in the social environment of print media have affected the history of the Japanese publishing industry in the postwar period. Data on the circulation of books, magazines, and newspapers are analysed on a population basis. The results of these analyses show that per-capita circulation of these media increased almost monotonically until the 1980s, but then began to decrease after peaking in the 1990s. After conducting statistical correlation analyses, we conclude that per-capita circulation was affected by economic trends indicated by the GDP growth rate. Our analyses also show a positive correlation between the pace of change in per-capita book and magazine circulation, and this reciprocal relationship is investigated in detail.  相似文献

A strong copyright regime is crucial for the development of local print publishing industry. However, piracy and other acts of copyright infringement are prevalent in the print publishing industry which denies creators and right owners from fully enjoying the reward of their labor and investment. This study therefore seeks to explore the acts of copyright infringement; enforcement provisions in the Copyright Act, 2005, 690 [10]; assess publishers and stakeholders understanding of these provisions and to identify the challenges in enforcing copyright in the Publishing Industry. The study adopted both questionnaires and interviews as research instruments. Seven institutions and organizations were interviewed, and questionnaires were administered to 43 individual companies within the book trade. The research subjects were sampled using the purposive and stratified sampling methods respectively. Findings from the study indicate that acts of copy infringement in the book publishing industry in Ghana have caused tremendous financial loss to the rights owners. Evident from the analysis are the difficulties associated with enforcing the law due to lack of awareness of the law by the right owners, and lack of awareness and expertise by enforcement agencies. The study recommends public awareness campaigns for the public and stakeholders in the industry. It is also important that training is given to law enforcement agencies and the support of stakeholders enlisted in enforcing the law.  相似文献

在构建的河南省文化产业投入产出表的基础上,利用投入产出分析的方法测算新闻出版业的经济效益、新闻出版业投资的后向总效应和后向净效应。研究结果表明,新闻出版业具有较大的直接经济效益和前向完全经济效益,后向完全经济效益处于社会平均水平;新闻出版业投资对自身的后向效应最大,除自身外,受其投资影响较大的三个部门是文化产品生产的辅助生产部门,住宿和餐饮业,交通运输、仓储和邮政业,非文化用纸、教育和体育用品部门的总产出增量受其投资的影响较大。  相似文献

In this article, we summarize the cost implications of print and electronic publishing for scientific scholarly journal publishers, libraries, and scientists. In each case, we developed detailed cost models to demonstrate the importance of factors that affect publishing and decisions made by libraries and scientists to determine whether to subscribe to a journal; if so, in print or electronic medium, and, if not, what alternative information sources to use. In all instances, estimates of unit cost are essential for understanding the dynamics of the economic and systemic interdependencies of publishers, libraries, and readers.  相似文献

This article re‐examines the economics of publishing scholarly journals and illustrates the dilemma of publisher identity and publication format with a case study of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication's Media Management and Economics division. The study investigates the perceived interest and demand for a society‐published journal for the field of media management and economics and the preferred format for that journal – print or online. Results showed a divided opinion on the support of a society‐published journal and no consideration of the benefits or harms of journal publishing to the society. The print journal, though a desirable format for authors, is deemed uneconomical. The online journal is viewed as a feasible publication outlet, but its status as a prestigious journal is doubtful. Applications of scholarly journal publishing and economic models to the case are discussed.  相似文献

出版业集聚化发展是迅速推进文化产业大发展大繁荣的重要途径,出版集团是我国文化产业集聚发展的重要载体。集团具有聚集经济性和良好的学习效应,使得集团内各出版发行机构的长期平均成本不断降低,成本节约效应显著;集团是包括产业政策在内的各项政策的集聚地,具备相对完善的公共平台等支撑条件,使得集团内出版发行机构获得比集团外企业更多的收益,两者的共同效应导致集团内的出版发行机构无论是在成本还是收益上都对集团外企业形成相对优势,产生类似于产业集群剩余的出版集团"集团剩余"。这也是出版集团形成、维系和发展的直接经济驱动力。  相似文献

In this article, the author discusses opportunities and challenges facing the magazine industry as it migrates from print to digital distribution models. While the industry can achieve outsized returns in the digital realm based on the unique content and brand equity developed in its traditional business, multiple hurdles confront publishing industry executives in the process. The changing landscape of data access, consumer engagement, production workflows and magazine industry business models are all discussed. An analogy to the television industry’s efforts to address new technology is used. The author argues that long-term industry value is dependent on making the right decisions in the early stages of market development today.  相似文献
