Abstract

The research on online news comments has been dominated by a normative approach and has centered on media engagement. Normativity and media dominance have also featured big in the theoretical discussions on the public sphere. This article presents a case study of online news comments, combining a novel methodological testing of social network hypotheses to examine user–user interactions in online comments with a conceptual discussion of the potential connections between social network research and theories of the public. The social network analysis in this study indicated that users (online commentators) do not constitute highly dense networks, although their relations can be studied as social networks. However, this analysis can only explore limited features of this online phenomenon and requires complementary methods. From a conceptual perspective, this article confirms the role of shared issue for a potential public and also emphasizes the importance of context, actors, and meanings for understanding the public.  相似文献

在线评论的出现推动了消费者网络购物决策行为的展开,以DEMATEL方法为基础,研究在线评论有用性的影响因素,为进一步促进消费者网络购物决策,推动网络购物决策理性行为的展开提供理论借鉴。在构建在线评论有用性影响因素体系基础上,运用模糊集理论与DEMATEL方法,分析15个影响在线评论有用性因素的属性及其相互关系,并识别出其中消费者专业知识、评论者信息披露、商品涉入度、评论写作风格、评论及时性以及评论信息完整性等6个关键影响因素。根据研究结论提出消费者信息管理是当务之急,商家需要进一步针对不同价位商品,注重评论内容的管理,促进消费者间的社会交流。  相似文献

Majority opinions are often observed in the process of social interaction in online communities, but few studies have addressed this issue with empirical data. To identify an appropriate theoretical lens for explaining majority opinions in online environments, this study investigates the skewness statistic, which indicates how many “Likes” are skewed to major comments on a Facebook post; 3489 posts are gathered from the New York Times Facebook page for 100 days. Results show that time is not an influential factor for skewness increase, but the number of comments has a logarithmic relation to skewness increase. Regression models and Chow tests show that this relationship differs depending on topic contents, but majority opinions are significant in overall. These results suggest that the bandwagon effect due to social affordance can be a suitable mechanism for explaining majority opinion formation in an online environment and that majority opinions in online communities can be misperceived due to overestimation.  相似文献

【目的/意义】在线评论在消费者购买决策中的重要性日益凸显,探索电商平台消费者绿色产品在线评论信息采纳的影响因素,为进一步挖掘在线评论的商业价值、促进绿色产品的消费提供参考。【方法/过程】以TAM和ELM为理论基础,结合社会环境因素和消费者个体特质因素,构建电商平台消费者绿色产品在线评论信息采纳意愿的影响因素模型,运用结构方程模型进行实证检验。【结果/结论】结果表明评论质量和社会影响均对感知评论有用性产生正向影响,评论源可信度与感知评论有用性的关系不显著,感知评论有用性和社会影响又对评论采纳意愿产生正向影响,产品卷入度会调节消费者评论有用性的感知,而专业知识未能起到调节作用。  相似文献

The outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic has created significant challenges for people worldwide. To combat the virus, one of the most dramatic measures was the lockdown of 4 billion people in what is believed to be the largest quasi-quarantine in human history. As a response to the call to study information behavior during a global health crisis, we adopted a resource orchestration perspective to investigate six Chinese families who survived the lockdown. We explored how elderly, young and middle-aged individuals and children resourced information and how they adapted their information behavior to emerging online technologies. Two information resource orchestration practices (information resourcing activities and information behavior adaptation activities) and three mechanisms (online emergence and convergence in community resilience, the overcoming of information flow impediments, and the application of absorptive capacity) were identified in the study.  相似文献

本文将同侪影响引入在线创新社区的用户行为研究中,从广度和深度两方面考察同侪影响对用户贡献行为的影响,并分析感知收益的中介作用。研究以小米社区MIUI功能与讨论区的创意集市板块为对象构建S-O-R模型,采用6567名用户发布的8830条创意、5.26万条评论和收到的103.36万条评论数据,利用Mplus8.1分析检验,结果发现:同侪影响广度与深度均有利于促进用户贡献行为,综合收益在同侪影响广度、深度与用户贡献行为间起正向中介效应,情感收益仅在同侪影响广度、深度与主动贡献行为间起正向中介效应,而认知收益则在同侪影响深度与反应贡献行为间起负向中介效应。研究拓展了在线网络情境下知识管理与社会学领域的交叉研究,并为在线创新社区社交网络和知识管理提供重要启示。  相似文献

People express themselves through posts or selfies with brands and activities on social networking sites (SNSs) such as Facebook and Instagram. This user-generated content provides adequate social information that may elicit the emotions of users who are exposed to such content on these online platforms. Although academic researchers have focused on factors affecting users’ emotions on SNSs, how users reconcile both positive and negative emotions to their attitude and behavior in triadic interactions remains unclear. The current study attempted to answer this research question through the lens of social comparison theory by investigating the effects of tie strength and focus of attention as two forces eliciting online social comparisons on emotional consequences measured through pleasure and envy. Moreover, the dualistic effects of the two distinct types of envy, namely benign and malicious, and the effect of pleasure on users’ approach and avoidance behavior were explored and hypothesized. The results indicated that strong ties triggered more benign envy compared with malicious envy. Furthermore, benign envy positively affected brand attitude and SNS avoidance in terms of exhaustion, whereas malicious envy negatively influenced brand attitude and increased the likelihood of SNS avoidance in terms of both exhaustion and discontinuance.  相似文献

【目的/意义】研究在线健康社区中用户参与行为和互动模式,了解用户从潜水者向贡献者转化的影响因 素,从而为在线健康社区可持续发展提供参考建议。【方法/过程】本文通过构建激励机制下用户之间、在线健康社 区与用户之间两类有限理性的博弈模型,计算复制动态方程并求解均衡稳定策略,探究用户参与行为转化的影响 因素。【结果/结论】研究表明,在线健康社区中用户参与行为转化与发帖成本、隐私成本以及读帖收益系数成负相 关,与发帖收益系数、其他用户贡献的知识量以及情感支持成正相关,激励机制的引入对用户参与行为转化有积极 促进作用。在对策建议方面,在线健康社区可以从平台设计、氛围营造、用户生成内容、激励机制引入和隐私保障 机制构建五个层面进行优化管理。【创新/局限】本研究将引入激励机制作为在线健康社区的选择策略,未探讨其他 策略因素对于用户参与行为的影响,后续研究可以加以改进。  相似文献

【目的/意义】在线健康社区用户规模庞大,信息量浩如烟海,如何帮助社区管理者和用户判别有用信息,提 高决策效率是亟待解决的问题。【方法/过程】在复杂网络视角下,提出一个新的评论有用性分析框架。首先,采集 在线健康社区患者评论数据,采用文本分析法分析有用评论、非有用评论以及所有评论的主题分布和情感分布,初 步分析各类评论文本的有用性特征;其次,将各类评论文本分别转换为文本关联网络,使用社会网络分析方法进一 步分析其有用性特征;最后,分析评论有用性及其特征与患者发表评论、用户对评论的有用性投票以及文本关联网 络结构特征的关联性,实现基于文本关联网络的评论有用性分析。【结果/结论】有用评论和非有用评论文本关联网 络结构具有一定差异,在线健康社区用户就诊前后的信息需求和经验输出的重点有所不同。【创新/局限】基于复杂 网络视角研究在线健康社区评论有用性,但仅使用了好大夫在线的数据,未来可对更多数量和种类的在线健康社 区信息内容有用性进行研究。  相似文献

As the prevailing online communications paradigm, social media platforms are considered to be the fastest medium for sharing and diffusing information. But what influences the spread of information through these platforms? The content of the post? The sentiments contained? Or the characteristics of user's behavior? To explore which factors promote the spread of information through social media, we developed a data analytics method that combines data mining with time series regression. We then applied this analytical framework to the L group Double 11 false advertising scandal, which blew up on the Sina microblog – a public hot trend that attracted the attention of millions of people. Our analysis reveals how three factors – user activity, emotional changes, and public attention – interact and the role they play in the spread of information. Among these factors, sentiment polarity and reposting are found to be the two main drivers of information diffusion. Emotional contagion accelerates the spread of information when the event first breaks (known as the accumulation period), while reposting does more to spread information once the event has gained some traction (the diffusion period). Surprisingly, the topic of public concentration in the event has a significant impact on the spread of the event in the accumulation period, but the effect shades away during the diffusion and convergence periods, i.e., the farther relations among topics are tied, the less public interest is abating on the event – a finding that is supported by cognitive load theory. However, although public attention shows little influence in the diffusion process, it does reveal how consumers shift their attention to different subtopics over time. Overall, our analysis sheds some light on how online events evolve and ‘go viral’. Notably, this study not only explores how underlying factors dynamically influence the information diffusion process, but also offers insights into how to manage information diffusion processes in practice.  相似文献

本文借助网络志及扎根理论方法,考察营销人员如何借助在线商人社区对其电商营销活动进行赋能。研究发现,营销人员加入在线商人社区有助于其在电商营销专业知识和技能、心理状态以及对外影响力等方面获得提升,即实现赋能,而赋能对于社区成员获取在线交易机会有直接促进作用。社区信息特征、社交环境特征以及社区激励是影响赋能实现的前因,而上述因素通过影响社区成员对于社区和其他社区成员的融入水平,最终作用于赋能。  相似文献

The increasing popularity of Web 2.0 has dramatically changed the way in which people communicate with others in their daily life or work. However, the use of social media is fundamentally different from that of traditional information technologies. Specifically, it requires collective efforts and interdependence between two or more people, and thus the usage behavior is no longer an individual's own decision or plan. Built on critical mass theory and social influence processes, this study tries to make an attempt to understand the determinants of collective intention (we-intention), which represents one's perception of a group of people acting as a unit. Instant messaging, one of the most popular social media platforms, has been chosen for investigation, and findings from a survey showed that perceived critical mass influenced we-intention both directly and indirectly through group norm and social identity. Recognizing the importance and relevance of collective intention will advance current understanding beyond individual intention-based models which are widely adopted in prior IS research. This study may be limited by having not included other alternative social technologies, but we leave this work for future research.  相似文献

Social commerce sites (SCSs), a new model of social media, provide fertile ground for customers to communicate their opinions and exchange product- or service- related information. Given the significant opportunities related to the use of social media data for customers’ insight, we explore the factors driving information sharing behavior on SCSs. In this paper, we propose and empirically test a comprehensive theoretical model for customer information sharing behavior through analysis of online survey data as well as network and behavioral usage data of over four months from 1177 customers in a SCS. The research model was empirically validated with the use of both subjective and objective data in a longitudinal setting. Our results show that customer information sharing is influenced by both individual (i.e., reputation and the enjoyment of helping others) and social capital (i.e., out-degrees’ post, in-degrees’ feedback, customer expertise and reciprocity) factors. This study contributes to the existing literature by highlighting the role of directed social network in customer information sharing behavior on SCSs. We believe that the results of our study offer important insights to the IS research and practice.  相似文献

Studying online food behavior has recently become an active field of research. While there is a growing body of studies that investigate, for example, how online recipes are consumed, in the form of views or ratings, little effort has been devoted yet to understand how they are created. In order to contribute to this lack of knowledge in the area, we present in this paper the results of a large-scale study of nearly 200k users posting over 400k recipes in the online recipe platform Kochbar.de. The main objective of this study is (i) to reveal to what extent recipe upload patterns can be explained by socio-demographic features and (ii) to what extent they can be predicted. To do so, we investigate the utility of several features such as user history, social connections of the users, temporal aspects as well as geographic embedding of the users. Statistical analysis confirms that recipe uploads can be explained by socio-demographic features. Extensive simulations show that among all features investigated, the social signal, in the form of friendship connections to other users, appears to be the strongest one and henceforth is the best to predict what type of recipe will be uploaded and what ingredients will be used in the future. The research conducted in this work contributes to a better understanding in online food behavior and is relevant for researchers working on online social information systems and engineers interested in predictive modeling and recommender systems.  相似文献

Social metadata are receiving interest from many domains, mainly as a way to aggregate various patterns in social networks. Few scholars have, however, taken the perspective of end users and examined how they utilize social metadata to enrich interpersonal communication. The results of a study of end-user practices of social metadata usage are presented in this article. Data were gathered from a variety of online forums by collecting and analyzing user discussions relating to social metadata supporting features in Facebook. Three hundred and fifteen relevant comments on social metadata usage were extracted. The analysis revealed the use of experimental profiles, clashes between work-and non-work-related social metadata usage and differences in users' social investment, causing social dilemmas. The study also resulted in developments of theory relating to social metadata and relationship maintenance. In conclusion, social metadata expand a pure “attention economy,” conveying a much wider qualitative range of social information.  相似文献

[目的/意义]探讨消极社会比较、不同类型的消极情绪对社交网络用户间歇性中辍的作用机理,有助于丰富与拓展社交网络用户行为的相关研究。[方法/过程]构建社交网络用户间歇性中辍影响因素的理论模型。通过在线问卷搜集273份有效样本,利用PLS-SEM进行数据分析。[结果/结论]结果发现,倦怠和嫉妒显著影响社交网络用户的间歇性中辍行为;而消极社会比较显著影响社交网络用户的嫉妒情绪,其次是焦虑,最后是倦怠。  相似文献
