Smartphone use while driving causes car crashes, injuries and high death rates. To date, there is little research into what motivates frequent smartphone use while driving. In this study, we draw on psychological research indicating that personality profiles defined as constellations of multiple personality traits, influence individual beliefs and behaviors. We apply fuzzy-set qualitative comparative analysis (fsQCA) to survey data to derive profiles of drivers who use their smartphone frequently while driving. Our results indicate that personality profiles affect smartphone use behavior while driving and that three equifinal profiles, i.e. distinct constellations of the big five personality traits, influence frequent smartphone use while driving. Interestingly, a single trait can be low in one profile and high in another profile and, depending on the other traits, both profiles might reflect drivers using their smartphone frequently. We contribute to the literature that frequent smartphone use while driving is, to some degree, grounded in personality and that just looking at singular traits can yield misleading results. Complementing these theoretical insights by post-survey interviews, we can reveal distinct measures that reduce frequent smartphone use for each of the three profiles.  相似文献

We study the relationship between a CEO's individualistic cultural background and corporate innovation. Using hand-collected data on the birthplaces of U.S.-born CEOs, we present robust evidence demonstrating that CEOs born in frontier counties with a higher level of individualistic culture are associated with superior corporate innovation outcomes. Firms led by these CEOs exhibit higher levels of both quantity and quality in their innovation output, placing a greater emphasis on breakthrough innovation compared to firms led by CEOs born elsewhere. Furthermore, our findings are consistent with the notion that individualistic CEOs cultivate an innovation-oriented corporate culture and enhance human capital by attracting a greater inflow of inventors, thereby promoting corporate innovation.  相似文献

探讨科技型人才大五人格特质、知识共享环境与知识共享绩效的关系,建立相关理论模型并提出研究假设。以大五人格量表、知识共享环境量表和知识共享绩效量表为工具,对具有较强研发水平的典型企业中的科技型人才进行访谈与问卷调研,运用多元线性回归等方法进行实证检验。结论表明,企业科技型人才大五人格特质对知识共享绩效具有预测作用;知识共享环境在科技型人才人格特质与知识共享绩效之间起到部分中介作用。  相似文献

Enforcing a firm's patents is crucial for defending its competitive advantage. CEOs are central for making these strategic decisions but we know little about how their individual incentives shape their decision-making. We integrate theory from outcome-based CEO compensation designs into models explaining firms' decisions to become plaintiffs in patent litigation. Based on how compensation shapes time horizons and risk-taking of CEOs, we predict that CEO compensation tied to stock increases the firm's likelihood to enforce patents, while bonuses and stock options reduce it. Further, we reason that the tenacity of patent disputes in an industry creates a boundary condition for the effects of CEO compensation because they curtail the degree of agency that CEOs have for incorporating their personal incentives when making litigation decisions for the firm. We test these hypotheses for 2302 US firms with 4420 different CEOs and 3451 patent litigation cases between 1997 and 2015 and find support for all hypotheses with the exception of the boundary condition for stocks as CEO compensation. These findings advance existing theory on firms' decision-making on patent litigation by explicating how firm and CEO incentives can diverge with direct consequences for the likelihood of litigation to occur.  相似文献

双元创新对家族企业的价值提升与长期发展至关重要。本文以2012—2019年中国沪深两市A股上市家族企业为研究样本,实证研究了不同类型CEO对家族企业双元创新的影响。研究发现:家族创始人CEO会促进探索式创新和利用式创新;与家族创始人CEO相比,继任者CEO会抑制家族企业创新,具体来说,继任家族成员CEO会抑制利用式创新,而职业经理人CEO会抑制探索式创新。进一步研究发现:创始人CEO会促进利用式创新的相对投入,而继任家族成员CEO则会抑制利用式创新的相对投入;与继任家族成员CEO相比,职业经理人CEO会抑制探索式创新而促进利用式创新;CEO任期和海外经历会抑制职业经理人CEO对探索式创新的负向影响,而CEO持股和海外经历则会抑制职业经理人CEO对利用式创新的正向影响。本文不仅揭示了不同类型CEO影响家族企业双元创新的差异性,亦为家族企业如何平衡探索式创新和利用式创新提供了经验证据与管理启示。  相似文献

过度自信是个体过高估计自身判断精确度的一种认知偏差。心理学研究表明,人格变量作为重要的个体差异变量之一,对过度自信具有一定的预测作用。其中,外向性对过度自信有显著的预测作用。自恋型人格与过度自信有关,而抑郁型人格与不自信有关。另外,其他的一些人格特质也被证明与过度自信有关。“大七”人格与过度自信的关系以及人格特质与过高定位之间的关系将会成为以后该领域研究的热点。  相似文献

使用西安高新区794家企业2年的平衡面板数据,通过固定效应模型对企业负责人年龄与企业创新支出之间的关系分年龄段回归发现:35岁以下年龄段时二者呈正相关,35-60岁年龄间二者呈负相关,60岁以上二者呈正相关。该结果表明时限问题在这些企业中客观存在,并部分支持变动时间贴现理论。  相似文献

通过心理传记学研究探讨曹操的主要人格特点。采用人格形容词评定法和心理传记分析法,结果表明曹操具有“机智勇敢”、“乐观开朗”、“赏罚分明”、“目光远大”、“奸诈狡猾”、“残忍狠毒”六大人格特征。通过对该评定结果与收集到的历史资料进行相互印证,分析曹操人格特征形成的影响因素。  相似文献

Recent research frames big data as a resource enhancing dynamic capabilities through improved prediction, decision-making, and data-driven innovation. In contrast, this study frames big data as an evolutionary driver that channels firms' knowledge and attention in specific directions, implying that firms need multiple big data sources to be receptive and dynamically capable. I apply this framework to the context of the digital revolution and focus on the impact of big data on firms' digitalization priorities. By leveraging a large-scale survey of more than twenty thousand Italian firms of all sizes, I find that big data improves the digitalization awareness of firms only if they gather big data from more than one source (otherwise, counterintuitively, it may even decrease it). I also find a positive effect of source variety both on the likelihood of prioritizing individual digitalization factors and on the variety of digitalization factors prioritized. Such effects appear to be stronger for small firms relative to their larger counterparts. Given the path dependence of digitalization trajectories, these findings have relevant policy implications in the context of initiatives like the European strategy for data and the SME strategy for a sustainable and digital Europe.  相似文献

为了提升公众应对社交媒体虚假新闻传播的意愿,讨论社交媒体不同人格特质用户虚假新闻应对意愿的差异和相关性。基于大五人格模型、计划行为理论、风险感知理论及前人相关研究提出若干研究假设,然后利用偏最小二乘(PLS)路径分析对模型进行验证。研究结果表明外倾性、宜人性人格特质会通过行为态度对用户在社交媒体平台应对虚假新闻的意愿产生显著的影响;宜人性、尽责性人格特质受感知风险的影响较大;最后根据结论,针对不同人格特质与其使用社交媒体平台的行为特征,提出了可操作的建议。  相似文献

大型企业积极开展多种形式的创业活动促进了社会经济发展并引起广泛关注,然而公司创业情境下,孵化企业如何整合多方资源构建服务生态系统还缺乏研究。本文基于资源编排理论,选取浪潮集团孵化的数字化企业进行纵向案例分析,探究公司创业情境下孵化企业服务生态系统的构建机制。研究发现:(1)孵化企业服务生态系统呈现企业—客户双向互动、企业—直接利益相关者多线联动、企业—广泛社会参与者系统协同的动态演进特征。(2)母体企业逐步发挥强资源扶持、平衡式资源支持和弱资源辅助作用,孵化企业依据发展阶段和所处情境进行资源编排的有效组合,促进服务生态系统的快速构建与发展演化。本研究丰富和拓展了服务生态系统理论与公司创业理论,对公司创业活动下的生态系统建设具有指导意义。  相似文献

Big data can be used to examine IT departments in the following ways: performance analysis, forecast maintenance, security analysis, and resource analysis. When it comes to boosting their business's dependability, speed, quality, and effectiveness, most companies rely on big data. Companies can gain a competitive edge thanks to the massive amounts of data that big data is able to collect, store, and manage. Big data analytics is being used by a growing number of businesses to make sense of their mountain of data. In this paper, we examine the ways in which IBM, TCS, and Cognizant use big data within their operations. This study investigated more attributes of online searchers that were believed to affect the quality of their search results. Subjects were selected from the online searching courses in six library schools. The searching proficiency of the subjects was measured by their performance on two DIALOG searches. Their creativity level was measured using two self-report inventories; their intelligence level was approximated from their GRE Verbal and Quantitative scores; and their personality traits in regard to masculinity, femininity, and self-esteem were measured using the Interpersonal Disposition Inventory. The large number of independent, predictor variables were reduced by factor analysis and the derived factors were related to the dependent variable, online searching performance, in a multiple regression analysis. The findings suggest that differences in searching performance can be attributed, to a small degree only, to general verbal and quantitative aptitude, artistic creativity, and to an inclination toward critical and analytical creative thinking. The findings also raise doubts, however, that high intelligence and other attributes cited by writers in the field are necessary for high performance. The notion that searching performance can be predicted by or is dependent upon certain cognitive or personality traits has thus become highly suspect.  相似文献

Big data analytics associated with database searching, mining, and analysis can be seen as an innovative IT capability that can improve firm performance. Even though some leading companies are actively adopting big data analytics to strengthen market competition and to open up new business opportunities, many firms are still in the early stage of the adoption curve due to lack of understanding of and experience with big data. Hence, it is interesting and timely to understand issues relevant to big data adoption. In this study, a research model is proposed to explain the acquisition intention of big data analytics mainly from the theoretical perspectives of data quality management and data usage experience. Our empirical investigation reveals that a firm's intention for big data analytics can be positively affected by its competence in maintaining the quality of corporate data. Moreover, a firm's favorable experience (i.e., benefit perceptions) in utilizing external source data could encourage future acquisition of big data analytics. Surprisingly, a firm's favorable experience (i.e., benefit perceptions) in utilizing internal source data could hamper its adoption intention for big data analytics.  相似文献

This case analysis considers how digital disruption is reaching beyond technology to engulf traditionally considered low-tech industries and influence conventionally viewed non-digital businesses. For incumbent firms in these low-tech industries, the disruption brings not only plenty of opportunities but also numerous threats. Firms that quickly embrace the digital era by profoundly changing their incumbent strategies, systems, operational habits, and business models have great chances to outperform their competitors and succeed within this dynamic environment. One digital strategy that might be adopted by incumbent firms in the low-tech industries to seize the opportunities brought by digital disruption is to integrate their resource orchestration actions with advanced information technologies (ITs). Given the strong connection between firms’ resource orchestration actions and their competitive advantages, as well as the increasingly vital role of ITs in contemporary business operations, it is an imperative to investigate the impacts of ITs on the resource orchestration processes of modern enterprises. Additionally, for incumbent firms operating in the low-tech industries, integrating their resource management with modern ITs might help them effectively identify and accumulate unique resources, develop their capabilities, and create value through continuous reconfiguration of resources. Therefore, low-tech firms that strive to adopt modern information technologies in their resource orchestration process are more likely to achieve improved organizational performance and competitive advantages than their competitors.  相似文献
