研究关注中国英语学习者在英语议论文写作中的选词错误情况,研究者从“北京语言大学中国学生英语笔语语料库”中选取了两组不同水平学习者的语料进行比较调查。参考James(1998)对词汇错误的分类,研究者把语料中的选词错误分为7类:误用形近词、误用固定搭配、从母语直译、凭空造词、误用近义词、错误理解词的指示义和具体语境选词不当。通过分析数据,研究者发现了两组不同水平学习者在选词错误方面的一些特点和差异,并且有针对性地对英语词汇教学和写作教学提出了一些建议。  相似文献

The purpose of this study is to reflect on my experience of teaching English as a Foreign Language (EFL) in an inland Chinese university when I returned from Australia: I re-entered the space of EFL teaching, and experimented with a new model of teaching. In my experiment, I applied the concepts of third space and hybrid identity as a theoretical framework for teaching EFL. A personal narrative form is chosen to report and reflect on the experiment, as this is the form that directly expresses experience, allows for reflection on it, and is appropriate for studies of identity. Using anecdotes and reflection, I relate the observed responses of a cohort of Chinese EFL learners to this new EFL teaching model. From this account, reflections are drawn on the challenges that reform of traditional teacher-centred EFL methods in the Chinese cultural context brings to the learners, and by implication, the teacher, from the perspective of an insider (teacher) returning home from an outsider’s third space as a learner in another culture.  相似文献

论文以某医学本科院校为例,通过问卷及访谈的方式,利用数据分析研究了该校低年级本科生在英语写作过程中采取的策略,及不同水平学习者采取写作策略的差异.研究发现:医学本科生广泛地对写作前与写作后的策略使用不足,同时,英语水平高低学习者对写作策略的使用存在显著差异.  相似文献

本文对中国大学生利用电子邮件与讲英语为本族语的交际对象进行互动交际和利用传统纸和笔写作这两种二语写作模式进行了比较分析,发现传统纸笔写作信息承载量大,注重形式上的连接,是典型的结果写作法;而利用电子邮件写作是在真实的环境下的一种循环式互动交际过程,所写语言具有口语化、个性化、真实化的特点,更加注重对写作内容的挖掘和拓展。因此,利用得当,电子邮件可以真正促进二语写作从结果写作向过程写作的转换。  相似文献

思维与语言密切相关,思维对人类的语言形式具有重要的影响。思维支配语言,并且不同民族有着不同的语言文化和思维方式。而在EFL学习过程中,英语思维方式却常常被忽略,因此造成了学习过程中的诸多困难。本文以关联理论的语境观——"认知语境"为基础,通过对EFL学习者认知语境的分析,阐明了EFL学习者认知语境的主要来源,并通过英汉思维方式的对比揭示了英语思维方式在EFL学习过程中的重要性。最后,本文就如何在EFL学习者的认知语境中建构完善的英语思维方式提出了若干建议,旨在帮助学习者们更好地掌握并运用英语这门语言。  相似文献

EFL学习者在学术写作中还面临着诸多问题,突出表现在写作文体非正式性、过分强调写作"成品"性自主性动机匮乏上。在此情况下,实施以"过程写作法"为中心的学术写作教学势在必行。"过程写作法"大致包括六个写作阶段,其反馈方式主要有三种(教师编辑、同伴编辑及自我编辑)。正确实施运用"过程写作法"可以提高EFL学习者的英语学术写作能力。  相似文献

National Identity in EFL Learning: A Longitudinal Inquiry   总被引:1,自引:1,他引:0  
This article draws on a longitudinal study of four Chinese students’ English learning experiences during their college years and explores the ways in which EFL learning has influenced their sense of national identity. The study captures the changes they have experienced in constructing identities over a prolonged period in the context of mainland China where strong sense of national identity has been historically promoted and where there is currently unprecedentedly close interaction between local cultures and western cultures. Drawing on interviews and diary studies as the primary data source, this study identifies a three‐stage development in the national identities of the college students that proceeds from initial admiration of English‐speaking cultures, to antagonism towards alien things, before then reaching a stage of conciliation between the national and the global. The findings suggest that China’s deeply‐rooted culture of collectivism and altruism plays a role in shaping English learners’ national identity and that the learners also demonstrate considerable agency in constructing national identities at different stages of English learning.  相似文献

This article presents two separate but related studies on native-English speaking (NES) instructors’ teaching writing practice in Chinese universities. One study is a case study that explores the teaching practice of three NES instructors’ writing instruction in a southern Chinese university as well as students’ responses to their practice. Another study takes on an auto-ethnographic approach, in which the researcher retrospectively examines his own writing instruction as a college NES instructor in China with his new understanding of Bakhtin’s dialogic theory and theories of multi/biliteracy. The pairing of these two studies, methodologically and conceptually, illustrates the NES instructors’ teaching experiences in China from both an outsider and an insider’s perspectives. The findings of the studies indicate that one of the key factors that hinder the effectiveness in teaching writing in English as a foreign language (EFL) contexts is the doctrine of ‘native fallacy’ widespread in the EFL field. This is an ethnocentric view of treating English as a hegemonic practice that drives EFL students to reach native-like English proficiency in both their English speaking and writing. The article concludes with a call for a paradigm shift in teaching and learning in the EFL field, which requires fundamental changes in the view of English from ‘native English’ to World Englishes or an international language for today’s globalized community.  相似文献

基于学习者语料库的中介语对比,量化分析了非英语专业学习者笔语中连接副词的使用情况。与以往研究不同的是,文中以T单位为频率计算基数。研究发现与本族语者相比,中国非英语专业学习者在连接副词使用方面呈现三个特征:总体上多用连接副词,其中时序类使用尤为频繁,因果类则使用不足;丰富度不高,倾向于频繁使用少数连接副词;连接副词的使用频率与学习者作文质量成反比。  相似文献

英语写作是英语的四大基本语言技能之一,但是非英语专业大学生的英语写作能力却处在较低的水平,特别是他们在语篇层面上的写作能力尤其欠佳。面对他们英语语篇写作能力低下的现状,本文提出一个针对非英语专业大学生的英语写作教学模式。该教学模式以语篇分析理论为基础,把阅读和写作结合在一起,并利用了过程写作教学法的优势。为了验证该教学模式的教学效果,笔者以河南科技大学的55名非英语专业大学生为实验对象进行了实证研究。  相似文献

In language learning contexts, writing tasks that involve reading of source texts are often used to elicit more authentic integrative language use. Thus, interests in researching these read-to-write tasks in general and as assessment tasks keep growing. This study examined and modeled the process of summary writing as a read-to-write integrated task. Data of test-taking process were collected from 94 Chinese English as a foreign language (EFL) learners who completed two summarization tasks. Seven students first completed the tasks while thinking aloud their mental process. The researcher observed their test-taking process and conducted post-test interviews to learn more about how they completed the tasks. Participants’ verbal reports were coded into mental moves, which were then grouped according to their purposes. These formed the basis for identifying the processes and sub-stages participants followed while completing the tasks. Based on the analysis of the think-aloud, observation, and interview data, a questionnaire was developed containing items specifying the processes task takers went through. The questionnaire was completed by the remaining 87 participants to test the generalizability of the findings. A process model of summarization was constructed subsequently. The implications of the study are discussed with reference to construct validity of summarization tasks, EFL writing instruction and assessment.  相似文献

本文使用语料库对比中国大学生和本族语学习者在写作中使用名词化结构的情况,探讨中国大学生在写作中使用名词化结构的特征。研究结果显示:中国大学生与本族语学生在书面语中使用名词化结构存在显著性的差异,中国大学生在写作中使用名词化结构比本族语学生要少;不同水平的中国大学生在写作中使用名词化结构存在显著性的差异,高年级学生在写作中使用名词化结构比低年级的学生多;但高年级学生使用名词化结构的频率与本族语学生相比还有相当的距离,说明中国学生在使用名词化结构的时候可能存在语言僵化的现象。  相似文献

近年来,英语教师越来越关注英语课堂中的文化教学。一方面,文化学习能够帮助学生更快习得英语,另一方面,在后殖民语境下,英语教师可能会在无意识的状态下扮演西方文化代理的身份,也就是说,在这个过程中,学习者会把目标文化内在化,进而对本土文化造成伤害并同时加速第一世界国家的文化殖民进程。  相似文献

文章对EFL学习者英语写作里使用时间状语时出现的母语负迁移作了实证研究,分析了英语写作中存在的母语负迁移现象和造成负迁移的因素,提出了英语学习中应该采用恰当的教学方式,创设真实情境下的英语语言环境,利用语言的迁移规律,帮助学生克服干扰,减少负迁移,促进正迁移,提高英语学习成效。  相似文献
