本研究以湖北省一所原行业划转高校为例,运用组织社会学的制度理论和案例研究的方法,对该校划转后的组织转型过程进行了深入分析。研究认为,案例高校的组织转型,是在知识、政府和市场三种力量共同作用下,组织内部各方势力互相博弈后自我选择的结果。在转型过程中,案例高校逐渐确立了自身"行业性"和"地方化"两大组织特性。研究最后总结认为,创业型大学是划转院校组织转型的发展方向。  相似文献

教师评议会是美国大学普遍设置的全校范围内教师参与大学治理的机构,东北大学是其中一个颇具特色的案例。透过该校校内各个群体对教师评议会的看法,理想状态下教师评议会的运作机制应是教师与行政人员之间既存在一定的建设性冲突,又互相合作。为此,我们需要重新认识教师评议会在美国大学治理中的作用及其在治理结构中扮演的角色,在现代大学制度建设过程中重视协调教师与行政人员之间的关系。  相似文献

This paper relates to the implementation process of the Universitaetsorganisationsgesetz 1993 (University Organisation Act of 1993) at an Austrian university. In accordance with the idea of a managed university, the Austrian government aimed this law at transferring a greater scope of responsibility for strategic decisions and management issues from the ministry to the universities. The empirical basis is derived from a 2‐year, in‐depth field study showing that the transformation to a ‘simple’ management orientation is in itself complex. We suggest therefore a frame of reference that is based on an understanding of universities as complex and self‐referential organisations. This view explains changes in universities as nontrivial transformation and conceptualises the management of change in universities as a paradoxical intervention.  相似文献

Third-country faculty are faced with significant challenges interacting with university students who come from different socio-cultural backgrounds and have different expectations regarding faculty’s role, behavior, and leadership style. This paper compares diversity practices and action options that can facilitate or hinder the integration of third-country faculty across five universities established in an equal number of countries. The proportion of third-country faculty in American universities abroad is also used to provide a measure of diversity. Notwithstanding recent trends pointing to the internationalization of higher education universities have yet to develop an appropriate institutional mentality along with supporting diversity policies that would help them gain global efficiencies by hiring qualified international faculty. This may have serious implications for organizational effectiveness with respect to resource acquisition and even the long-term survival of the organization. The modern university is essentially an alien phenomenon in the Arab world where it lacks the societal support base enjoyed by the western university. Moreover, many of the new Arab universities, like Kuwait University, established in 1966, were either modeled after the French influenced Egyptian university — in-turn based on semi-independent colleges — or received their initial administrative and teaching faculty from Egypt. From this legacy is derived a significant share of the obstacles hindering organization and management reform. At the same time a variety of governmental traditions and regulations binding the university to general civil service regulations, an under-developed tradition of university autonomy and faculty participation in university decision-making, and a utilitarian concept of formal education which associates degress with employment status are among the more serious problems confronting the Arab university.Kuwait University can be seen as a microcosm of the organizational, management and academic problems encountered in the Arab university. Although Kuwait University enjoys adequate financial support and is not forced to accommodate an unreasonable number of students, it has peculiar problems arising from unequal admissions standards (Kuwaiti and non-Kuwaiti), traditional societal values, paucity of indigenous staff, inexperienced administrators, lack of balance in academic ranks, absence of tenure, a fragmented physical plant, inadequate support staff as well as insufficient societal understanding and support. Like most other Arab universities Kuwait University not only reflects the rudimentary societal development but is located on the frontier of that development. Given the small population of Kuwait, the university is especially important in this development role. As the university and its distinctive needs become better understood the total society will be strengthened.  相似文献

大学治理离不开全球治理的国际政治环境,西方"逆全球化"动向与中国人类命运共同体战略形成价值张力,大学治理模式出现新的可能性。人类命运共同体是中国全球化战略的理论和实践支点,为讨论大学治理全球化提供了思想资源。理论上的大学治理全球化存在统一模式,但不是当前模式的任何一种。中国大学治理模式"强政府"的制度特征和兼容并蓄的文化基因为全球大学治理提供了更多可能性。人类命运共同体是中国大学治理全球化的实践逻辑,为大学治理全球化提供了在组织、国家和全球层面的治理框架:构筑以信任为特征的大学内部治理,构筑以提升大学治理能力为核心的大学外部治理,构筑以人类命运为支点的大学治理全球化。  相似文献

作为创建中国现代大学的先驱,蔡元培与郭秉文于20世纪初分别变革和创建了北京大学和东南大学这两所学术重镇,形成了"学分南北"的独特格局。作为留学回国参与中国现代大学建设的典型代表,蔡、郭二人办学理念的差异,可以视为德国与美国两种不同的大学治理体系与中国传统文化在不同情境中碰撞会通的实践产物。探讨两位教育家型的大学校长在治理理念上的差异及其背后的深层原因,有助于我们更好地理解中国学术走向"现代性"的艰难历程,也可望为"双一流"背景下大学治理体系现代化提供历史镜鉴。  相似文献

For example, the seeking of suggestions from faculty may “prevent trouble later and should bring out some good ideas. This paper examines innovations in strategic faculty hiring emphasizing interdisciplinarity at two major public research universities in the USA. The research investigated how and why the Pennsylvania State University and the University of Wisconsin‐Madison chose to pursue interdisciplinary faculty recruitment, how it was structured, and how it was intended to cause changes in academic work at each university. The paper analyzes how the interdisciplinary aims of those innovations intersected with competitive pressures, resource acquisition strategies, and organizational problems. This article aims at presenting the University of Oslo as a case of a Scandinavian university experiencing policy and structural changes as a consequence of changes in government's thinking on university finance. In this situation the active marketing of research based services might be a new source of revenue, and hence the following question comes up: How is the service function of the University perceived by the University and its clients in the Oslo region? The University of Oslo case is explored by reviewing available policy documents, statistics, regulations, charters and legal acts issued by the university itself and the Ministry of Education. In addition, information obtained through interviews with key actors at the university and key clients of the Oslo region, is presented. The study concludes that the University of Oslo is taking careful steps in the service direction.  相似文献

The international mobility of faculty is increasing worldwide. Although studies have considered the experiences of academics abroad, less is known about faculty-exchange programs with policy objectives. This study helps to fill this gap by analyzing a nationwide structured faculty exchange program established by Carnegie Mellon University and Portuguese universities to bring change to Portuguese higher education. The findings are based on interviews with Portuguese program participants, whose motivation to participate and experiences with the program, in addition to the influence of their experience abroad on their home institution, were explored. We find that, although the alignment of individual motivations with institutional interests is important to such programs, the complex transposition of individual experiences to the institutional level may be impeded by cultural resistance as well as resource and organizational constraints. Our exploration of the features that determine the success or failure of these experiences provides insights for policymakers seeking to implement faculty-mobility programs in the future.  相似文献

依据2005-2009年间对中山大学975名本科生的问卷调查,以及对到该校进行招聘的32家企业的47名人力资源主管的访问,分析面试礼仪在大学生求职成功过程中的影响力。结果表明,近年来求职大学生尤其是理工科学生对"礼仪"在求职中的重要性的认识逐年提升,用人单位对求职者礼仪的要求也在逐年提升。大学生求职面试礼仪的价值日益彰显,其与求职成功与否的关联性愈来愈大。  相似文献

高校教师参与学术创业活动可能会对大学传统使命产生潜在的影响。为平衡教师参与学术创业引发的承诺冲突和利益冲突,斯坦福大学采取了一系列策略:限制教师参与学术创业活动的范围和时间;制定差异化的信息披露、审核和管理程序;建立中介服务机构,规范学术创业流程等。借鉴斯坦福大学的经验,我国大学应重构观念,克服学术研究和学术创业非此即彼的二元对立论;设置学术创业活动的边界,在边界内提供支撑;建立规范化的冲突披露与管理机制,实行分类管理。  相似文献

University mergers are a common practice in higher education systems around the world. Merger-related aspects such as the transformation of organizational and administrative structures, the impact on the internal funding allocation mechanisms, or changes in academic strategies and profiles, are well researched. However, the role of students in university mergers and their understanding of these processes are hardly investigated. The aim of this study was to identify how students are affected by merger processes. Through the conceptual framework, integrating university organizational identity theory and studies of the human side of mergers and acquisitions, this article encompasses six institutional cases in Russian higher education. These cases were selected to illustrate different scenarios of university mergers and accordingly to analyze the variety of student experience in changing universities. The project’s data included the results of document analysis, analysis of the merged universities’ representation in the public space, interviews and focus-groups with university administrators and with students who studied during the process of university merger. It highlights such perceived effects of mergers as anxiety and perceived unfairness due to post-merger changes, activization of we-they opposition between the students of merged universities, loss or transformation of organizational identity, and clash of university cultures.

澳大利亚大学把战略规划视为内部管理的一项重要举措。大学战略规划的相关界说从不同角度影响了澳大利亚大学的战略规划实践。大学战略规划实践体现的立足于对大学的组织特点的理解、注重对大学外部环境的分析、体现大学规划自主的原则、吸引各方广泛参与和规划内容既“求同”又“存异”的五大特征,对于当前我国大学规划具有启示意义。对大学科学定位和进行大学发展动因分析应成为现阶段我国大学战略规划的突破口。  相似文献
