Sport development is a core concern for all nations as they seek to enhance elite performance and cultivate opportunities for mass participation. In the sport of triathlon, new models for sport development have been shown to exist where third party organisations have a critical role in the delivery of it. Using institutional theory as a framework, the purpose of this study was to explore the emerging models of sport development in triathlon. A case study of triathlon in Australia and in the United States was used. The results illustrated emerging models of sport development in both the US and Australia. Third party organisations as well as local councils have become increasingly involved in the creation and implementation of programmes and activities that would normally be the responsibility of a governing body. As such, the organisational fields and institutional logics in triathlon are rendering governing bodies irrelevant. Governing bodies are grappling with finding relevance and legitimacy in triathlon. Implications for sport management research, practice, and education are discussed.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

This article focuses on the context of private sporting clubs, previously referred to by sports historians as ‘the long residuals of sport’, as important sites of sporting culture and sport heritage in local communities. The project explores the history and meaning of sport through intergenerational collaboration between the academic researcher, primary school children and experienced members of Glasgow Southside's sports community. The research reflects on the process of intergenerational learning, reminiscence and heritage activities to inform future cultural histories of sport, as well as sports development and future well-being. Through a focus on interpreting cultural and social change in Glasgow sport by educating children and elder members of the community in the use of sport media archives, as well affording opportunities to examine the usefulness of intergenerational communication in community settings, the project investigated the cultural transmission of sporting cultures of the past, and its influence over, or disconnection from, contemporary sporting practices of young people. The article concludes that by acknowledging and sharing the heritage of private sport clubs, such ‘communities of practice’ have an important role to play in fostering stronger socio-cultural ties between clubs, their members and young people.  相似文献

运用文献分析、实地考察、访谈、数理统计等方法,围绕天津市社区体育管理体制、组织运行形式、产业化运作、专职人员与健身指导员队伍、新型社区体育运行机制以及社区体育发展中存在的主要问题进行调查与分析。在此基础上,提出加快城市社区体育发展的对策:政府主导作用应通过立法得以保证;官民结合是社区体育的新型组织与运行形式;建立高水平的科学健身指导队伍是当务之急;大力扶持非营利性产业化运作和产业开发是加速社区体育发展的主动力;构建新型社区体育模式是社区体育_丁作实现创新发展的重要途径。  相似文献

在调研了全国范围内城乡社区社会体育组织后,提出社区体育是“在一定规模的辖区生活共同体内开展的群众体育”。研究表明,目前我国城乡社区以开展体育活动为目的的各种社会体育组织并存,但适应我国社会发展的新型社区体育组织还很薄弱,没有形成一个较完善的体系。今后一段时期,我国新的社区体育组织体系的建立,应大力培育和发展为社区开展体育活动提供非营利性服务的社区体育协会、社区体育俱乐部(青少年俱乐部)等组织,其性质应属于在我国具有法律地位的民间组织,即从事非营利性社会体育服务的组织。  相似文献

This research focuses on coworker learning and knowledge sharing amongst elite footballers. The authors provide an in-depth understanding on how elite footballers learn from their peers and which channels are used to share their knowledge. The authors also analyze how peer learning impacts an elite footballer’s development and performance and to what extent elite football clubs actively support peer learning. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with 12 elite footballers from first and second division German Bundesliga clubs. The findings demonstrate that peers are very important sources of knowledge for elite footballers. There are four main knowledge sharing channels: observing/imitating, peer exchange/peer communication, labor mobility and knowledge brokers. The findings highlight the positive impact of knowledge sharing on elite players’ development and performance and call for future (knowledge) management tactics to specifically use this untapped potential.  相似文献

Brand communities have become an important aspect for brand management in social media. However, many brands have failed to establish a successful online brand community. In this study, we introduce branded communities as an alternative concept to brand communities. In contrast to brand communities, a branded community does not revolve around a specific (sport) brand, but around any interest or need. However, a specific brand makes use of the community for marketing purposes by sponsoring or operating the community. We emphasize the suitability of sport as an interest around which branded communities can be built as well as links of branded communities to sport sponsorship. We empirically studied the factors which influence the success of this phenomenon and the effects of operating or sponsoring such a community for a brand by using an online survey (N = 501) of members of a branded online community relating to football. The results demonstrate the relevance of topic interest (i.e., identification and involvement with football) and the quality of the community as determinants of interest in and loyalty towards a branded community. The brand owner benefits from an increase in brand loyalty for those community members who are aware of the brand as the operator of the community, whereby awareness of this sponsorship does not decrease loyalty towards the community. Our research contributes to previous knowledge by proving that branded communities are both an effective means for companies to deploy sponsorship and branding strategies in social media and provide a promising opportunity for sport managers to generate value.  相似文献

This paper explores physical educators’ perspectives on race and racism as a first step towards disrupting whiteness and supporting the development of antiracist practice. With close links to sport, a practice centrally implicated in the creation and maintenance of racialised bodies and hierarchies, Physical Education (PE) offers an important context for a study of whiteness and racism in education. Using collective biography we examine physical educators’ narrative stories for what they reveal about the operation of whiteness and racism in PE. Teachers draw on narratives from curricula texts which uphold and reinforce notions of the racialised other, thereby reasserting normative, universal white knowledge. Their pedagogy is underpinned by a colour blind approach where race is ‘not seen’, yet essentialist and cultural discourses of race are nevertheless deployed to position particular racialised and gendered bodies as ‘problems’ in PE. Engagement with antiracism is limited to professional rhetoric within pedagogical practice.  相似文献

为了解决制约社区体育发展的根本问题,全面促进社区体育发展,采用文献资料法、问卷调查法、数理统计法等研究方法,对武汉地区高校与周边社区体育资源现状进行调查和分析。结果表明:现阶段我国城市社区体育尚处于初步发展阶段,发展不平衡;社区体育资源相对匮乏是制约社区体育发展的主要因素;高校拥有较丰富的体育资源,合理开发利用以实现与社区的资源共享。  相似文献

通过社会调查、访谈等方法,对我国大城市街道办事处(镇)、晨晚练点、体育社团、体育俱乐部的负责人进行了调查,摸清了我国大城市基层群众体育管理体制的现状,以此为基础,对我国大城市基层群众体育管理体制现状进行了思考。结论:应扩大基层群众体育组织的管理权限,调动参与其组织体育活动的积极性,加大对基层群众体育组织的资金投入;在政策法规中,制定对新建居民小区配套体育活动场地设施的强制措施;在国家扶持的基础上,各级各类基层群众体育组织要依靠各种社会力量和条件发展自己;在开展群众性体育活动中,对各级各类经营性体育组织,在经费上给予优惠政策,减少政府限制,鼓励企业和个人经营;加快培养体育管理专业后备人才。  相似文献

通过文献资料法、逻辑分析法对学校体育与社区体育资源的现状进行分析。阐述了高等院校具有人才、场地和教育功能等方面优势,及其在实施《全民健身计划纲要》,促进社区体育发展,向社区体育延伸,完善社区功能,促进全民健身等方面的作用。通过对高校体育与社区体育互动发展现状发现,社区体育场地不足,社区体育人才配备不良,以及社区体育和高校体育组织活动形式,探索资源共享发展模式,形成新型有效的互动运行机制,以期促进我国高校体育和社区体育的良性互动发展。如果把各自的体育资源科学合理的进行调配与共享,就能解决大学生和社区成员在体育锻炼中遇到的困难和问题。  相似文献

When a new sport team enters an existing league, branding becomes an important tool the team uses to establish itself and gain a following within the community. Previous research on new sport teams has focused on adult attachment and formation of fan communities, but few researchers have focused on children learning to value brands and branding techniques. Through this study, the authors examine the aspects of branding efforts, specifically branded imagery and associations, that children find important, relevant, and representative of a new sport team. A drawing contest for children ages 5–14 enrolled in public schools executed in conjunction with a local single-A baseball team after their inaugural season revealed many brand associations traditionally tied to adult fans of both new and established sport teams were irrelevant to the child participants included in this study. Branded imagery was also not used by any participants before the age of 7, extending current research on branding and child development to highlight the lack of effectiveness of branding on children younger than 7. The Sport Value Framework provides a new logic for value creation in sport based on the Service-dominant logic. The Sport Value Framework is a general theory with high level of abstraction, and there is no middle-range theory yet to link it to empirical data. The purpose of this research is to provide one middle-range theory connecting empirical findings to the Sport Value Framework. The authors used a case study approach of a geographical localised sport industry. Primary data collection in the Auckland sailing industry included 27 interviews and observations at events. Secondary data include 13 documents of organisational information and archival data. Data were analysed with NVivo. The results suggest that the Sport Value Framework explains value creation within a localised sport industry. The middle-range theory between the authors’ data and the Sport Value Framework is the Sport Cluster Concept. Eight of the ten foundational premises of the Sport Value Framework are relevant to the case. The results confirm the Sport Cluster Concept as a middle-range theory to explain value creation in localised sport industries through the lenses of the Service-dominant logic. This research helps sport management practitioners to better understand value creation in localised sport industries. It suggests that sport management and marketing scholars should focus more on networks of actors and related inclusive empirical research designs rather than focusing on isolated elements and single actors of sport industries.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Increased industrial activity during the Victorian period led to the creation of industrial townships such as Crewe, whose growth was stimulated and sustained by the involvement of the London and North Western Railway Company. As in other townships, the paternalism of employers was reflected in company involvement in all aspects of the social, political and economic life of Crewe and the influence that was exerted on the population through the company’s middle-class managers. Men such as manager Francis Webb and company clerk Thomas Abraham had a significant impact on the sporting life of the town, and this paper explores their life courses to chronicle their involvement. These men were not public-school- or university-educated but they shared similar attitudes to sport with their middle-class counterparts in the South, and this paper uses their biographies to suggest that individuals concerned with the organisation of amateur sport across the country adhered to the basics tenets of the amateur ethos. The authors also reinforce the notion that, while the creation of governing bodies was certainly important in structuring late-nineteenth-century sport, the commitment and motivation of the individual was always critical in ensuring that local sport was played ‘in the right way’.  相似文献
