大数据时代背景下,图书情报工作者面对分散且海量的信息,如何快速发现和获取本领域相关的信息资源是当前亟待解决的问题。建立专门的图书情报领域信息门户,为图书情报工作者提供跟踪信息、发现信息、获取知识、开拓视野,以及提升业务技能和研究水平的重要平台显得尤为迫切。依托NSTL重点领域信息门户服务系统,收集全球图书情报领域重要的学协会联盟、机构、期刊、会议、业界官网等信息源,并对主题、对象进行组织分类,实现自动监测跟踪与分析,建立集综合性、专业性、个性化的图书情报领域信息门户,为图书情报工作者及时跟踪监测本领域的新理论、新思想、新方法、新技术、新实践提供重要学习参考平台,是支持图书情报工作创新和事业发展的重要工具。  相似文献

This feature discusses the use of a training needs analysis exercise carried out by library staff at the NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde (NHSGGC) Library Network to support the development of a fit for purpose programme of information skills training. A survey was designed based on a well‐known information skills competency framework and used to gain an understanding of the knowledge skills needed by staff and how library training could best support these. This study employed a sequential, mixed-method confirmatory research design to assess the impact of the delivery of library staff asynchronous online training at four levels of instructional intervention and workplace integration on short- and long-term knowledge acquisition/retention, self-efficacy, and job performance. The study utilized a pretest, posttest, and delayed posttest design with 192 staff members from twenty-seven public libraries in the United States completing all phases of the four-month longitudinal study. The study proposed an evidence-based, comparative evaluation framework to discern effectiveness of competency-based online training and the impact of varying online training implementation practices. The study found that all levels of instructional intervention resulted in significant short-term knowledge acquisition and enhancement of self-efficacy, and the three approaches that utilized facilitation resulted in long-term knowledge acquisition and improvement in self-efficacy. The impact on long-term workplace practices resulted in unique findings for small and large libraries. The researchers recommend further research in online training evaluation and best practices in public library online training.  相似文献

It is becoming increasingly important for students to graduate from institutions of higher learning equipped with the information and digital literacy skills necessary to succeed in an ever-changing world. It is also important for the librarians teaching these literacies to ensure the maximum amount of learning can take place in the limited amount of time made available to them. One way to make the learning environment conducive to learning is to use accepted best practices, but this raises the question of which best practices are more suited to an online environment. This research aimed to explore the efficacy of using best practices that include humor in an asynchronous online library program where there was no built-in group discussion and no contact with the librarians unless initiated by the students themselves. Comparing the results of the pre-test and post-test using statistical data analysis on the university student sample population indicated the resulting library program was effective, while the students themselves confirmed their appreciation of the humor used by the librarians. Those best practices used for the program were organized into the construct of the ADDIE instructional design model and were included in this paper.  相似文献

Background: Most NHS library services routinely offer both mediated searches and information skills training sessions to their users. We analyse the impact of these two services on the amount of literature searching demonstrated by users of hospital‐ based library services in the north‐west of England. Methods: Data for (1) mediated literature searches, (2) number of library users attending information skills training sessions, (3) amount of library staff time devoted to information skills training, and (4) number of Athens‐authenticated log‐ins to databases were obtained from statistical returns for 2007, and analysed for significant correlations. Results: There was evidence of quite strong correlations between the two measures of training activity and the number of mediated literature searches performed by library staff. There was weaker evidence of correlation between training activity and total literature searching activity. Discussion: Attending training sessions may make some library users aware of the difficulty of complex literature searches and actually reduce their confidence to perform their own complex searches independently. The relationships between information skills training, mediated literature searches, and independent literature searching activity remain complex.  相似文献

[目的/意义]了解美国iSchool 图书情报学人才培养模式的现状,为国内图书情报学人才培养模式的改革提供借鉴。[方法/过程]对美国排名前15的iSchool院校进行网络调研,从培养目标、培养内容、培养方式以及人才培养评估4个方面对其图书情报学人才培养模式进行调查分析。[结果/结论]美国iSchool旨在培养学生掌握学科基础知识、基本技能、信息技术以及提升其学习与研究能力;其核心课程类别设置广泛,涉及基础课程、信息技术、研究方法及跨学科课程等方面;人才培养方式多样化,包括学位教育、认证、双学位、辅修等多种方式;认证协会、排名机构与学院重视对人才培养质量的评估。美国iSchool人才培养模式对我国的图书情报学人才培养具有重要启示。  相似文献

OBJECTIVES: To explore library staff and health professionals' views on the effectiveness of information skills training and librarian mediated searching as methods of providing information for patient care. This is the second article describing the Effective Methods of Providing InfoRmation for patIent Care (EMPIRIC) project. The first paper, in a previous issue of this journal (Brettle et al. The costs and effectiveness of information skills training and mediated searching: quantitative results for the EMPIRIC project. Health Information and Libraries Journal 2006, 23, 239-247) describes the quantitative results. METHODS: A questionnaire survey to library staff and health professionals in the North West. Data was collected on perceptions of services, satisfaction and service usage. Statistical data were analysed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) and qualitative data using thematic analysis. RESULTS: Both information skills training and mediated searches are perceived by library staff and health professionals to be effective. There is strong support for mediated searches carried out on behalf of the health professional and information skills training to enable them to carry out their own searches. The results provide insights into the effectiveness of the services and the factors that make them effective. CONCLUSIONS: Evidence and stakeholders views support the provision of both information skills training and mediated search services. Both services are valued by users who see them as complementary methods of obtaining information depending on their needs at different times.  相似文献

OBJECTIVES: To compare the effectiveness and costs of providing information for patient care via librarian-mediated searches and information-skills training. METHODS: A questionnaire survey to library staff and health professionals in the North West. Data was collected on perceptions of services, satisfaction and service usage, allowing a cost analysis to be undertaken. Statistical data was analysed using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (spss). RESULTS: Using satisfaction and use of skills as outcome measures, both mediated searches and information skills training are effective. A breakdown of costs per type of training session and literature search is provided. Cost-effectiveness is dependent on whether costs are viewed from a library or trust point of view. Providing information skills training does not reduce the volume of mediated-search requests. CONCLUSIONS: No one method of providing information for health professionals is more effective or cost-effective than another. A decision about which services to provide cannot be made on the basis of effectiveness or costs alone; the views of library staff and the health professionals they serve should also be taken into account. A proactive approach and targeting training towards those who are most likely to benefit may be an appropriate way forward.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Studies on information and media literacy focus on describing activities and frameworks individually, and most of the time, connect within the field of library science. However, other frameworks and practices can be used. This case study presents the application of Behrman’s Critical Literacy Practices to information and media literacy to engage students to think critically about information within their field of study. The purpose of this research is to model the information behavior of education students through the perspective of constructivist learning. The study used a qualitative method with six upper-level undergraduate education majors. Activities that comprise practices and theories in both education and library sciences are presented to form a continuous exposure to critical thinking. Factors that influenced how students perceived the validity of information came from personal, educational, and societal factors. This research contributes to the ongoing discussion about critical thinking skills in undergraduate students, presenting a model that describes how practices from other fields can be used and incorporated with information and media literacy.  相似文献
