This paper reports a survey of 16 to 17 year old students who took part in a school based project activity designed to motivate them to consider a career in engineering. The scheme can be considered a success in that an uppermost estimated figure of 19% more students were recruited to engineering undergraduate courses than might otherwise have been the case in the absence of the scheme. The price that was paid for this was that for every additional engineer recruited to an undergraduate course there were ten participants on the scheme. The way that youngsters make decisions about career choices is discussed in an attempt to throw some light on the mechanisms for uptake (and abandonment) of careers in engineering. 相似文献

文章以美国图书馆协会JobLIST网站发布的高校图书馆专业馆员招聘信息为数据源,基于高校图书馆招聘视角,就美国高校图书馆专业馆员职业能力展开调查与分析。研究发现:美国高校图书馆专业馆员的职业能力可以归纳为4大类:学历、经验、知识与技能、能力,调查的183个职位均要求至少具备4类能力中的3类;美国高校图书馆重视专业馆员的图情专业教育,图书馆从业经验是招聘专业馆员的重要条件。针对我国高校图书馆专业馆员职业能力发展,提出加强职业能力教育、制定专业馆员的职业能力要求、重视专业馆员的图情专业继续教育、专业馆员积极提升职业能力等建议。 相似文献

在大量文献研究及实际经验的基础上,建立了招聘外包风险的系统动力学模型,并利用VENSIM进行仿真模拟。实证结果表明:质量风险尤为突出,企业应重点关注和防范;综合实力强,业内口碑好的招聘外包服务商的机会主义行为在项目前期会增加质量风险,但随着项目的推进,反而会降低质量风险;提高风险管理的有效性具有双重性,虽然可以降低某一具体风险,但也会增加企业的成本风险。 相似文献

The requirement for schools to appoint a special educational needs coordinator (SENCO) to coordinate provision for pupils with special educational needs (SEN) has existed since 1994. Since that time, the role has been subject to considerable research, debate and guidance. However, how the duty is being fulfilled in terms of the career pathways of the SENCOs is an under-researched area.
NASEN commissioned a postal questionnaire survey with a sample of 500 English SENCOs. Although the reliance on untriangulated data is a limitation, the study did highlight some of the issues from the perspectives of the post holders. There is evidence of a high turnover amongst SENCOs for a variety of reasons only partly explained by the demographics. This situation gives rise to particular concerns about the recruitment of SENCOs, and the extent, nature and value of the initial support offered to them. The role of the SENCO needs to be seen as attractive enough to ensure recruitment and an appropriate level of retention. It needs to be regarded as important enough to merit adequate, supportive induction. At present, in England, the situation is patchy with the respondents describing very different systems and sets of experiences. If all schools are to move beyond simply complying with the duty to ensuring the engagement of individuals willing or prepared to develop the necessary skills, then the views of current SENCOs should be taken into account. 相似文献

The recruitment of international students to universities in England has become a central issue in an era of globalisation for university administrators, senior managers, international offices and heads of schools and faculties. We examine the policy rationales for the recruitment of international students to England. Through the use of in‐depth interviews with key role players at four English universities, we compare the rhetoric, rationales and reasons for the recruitment of international students. A range of discourses can be identified in the recruitment of international students and an economic competition rationale is dominant. This is expressed within the discourse of globalisation. 相似文献
