A Publisher Perspective: How One Publisher is Responding to the Changing World of Scholarly Communication

For this talk, Marks was tasked with summarizing the important trends in scholarly publishing in 45 minutes. The speaker reflected on the rapid changes that have occurred in journal publishing, which followed more than 300 years of relatively slow progress. Marks discussed key technology trends such as data curation, Open Access (OA) mandates, and the changes occurring in the global landscape of scholarly communications and library budgets. Wolters Kluwer Health has been responding to these trends with new publishing experiments including a Platinum OA model in emerging markets. Marks discussed the ways that publishers and libraries need to alter their traditional practices and instill a focus on their customers and communities.  相似文献   

基于书目关联数据的文献版本关系发现研究

[目的/意义]利用关联数据名称唯一性特点,对书目数据进行语义化关联组织,使不同图书馆资源通过文献版本关系发现实现语义聚集。[方法/过程]分析书目关系类型及文献不同版本的特点,提出文献不同版本类型对应的版本关系,然后采用属性值顺序匹配方法,经过同种文献确定、版本关系发现两个步骤发现文献之间的版本关系,并利用美国国会图书馆、德国国家图书馆相关数据以及维基关联数据进行实证研究。[结果/结论]构建基于关联数据、书目数据的文献版本关系发现方法,实现同种文献不同版本的语义关联,发现实证数据间的版本关系,并指出其应用方向。通过该方法可以提供基于关联数据的知识检索服务,满足用户阅读、科研需求。  相似文献   

可行能力贫困:阅读困难群体的实质性特征

[目的/意义] 旨在厘清"阅读困难群体"的研究对象,分析产生阅读困难问题的原因,提出解决这些人阅读困难问题的策略。[方法/过程] 引入经济学中分析贫困问题根源的"可行能力方法"分析阅读困难群体的问题,从人的能力发展的角度考察阅读困难产生的原因,从而提出解决策略。[结果/结论] 可行能力贫困是阅读困难群体的实质性特征,可行能力贫困产生的原因在于阅读困难群体的"内在性"阅读困难、"结构性"阅读困难以及"生命敏感期"的脆弱性。增强阅读困难群体选择的"能力"与"机会"是扩展可行能力的关键,也是未来图书馆解决阅读困难群体问题的方向。  相似文献

Explaining match outcome in elite Australian Rules football using team performance indicators

The relationships between team performance indicators and match outcome have been examined in many team sports, however are limited in Australian Rules football. Using data from the 2013 and 2014 Australian Football League (AFL) regular seasons, this study assessed the ability of commonly reported discrete team performance indicators presented in their relative form (standardised against their opposition for a given match) to explain match outcome (Win/Loss). Logistic regression and decision tree (chi-squared automatic interaction detection (CHAID)) analyses both revealed relative differences between opposing teams for “kicks” and “goal conversion” as the most influential in explaining match outcome, with two models achieving 88.3% and 89.8% classification accuracies, respectively. Models incorporating a smaller performance indicator set displayed a slightly reduced ability to explain match outcome (81.0% and 81.5% for logistic regression and CHAID, respectively). However, both were fit to 2014 data with reduced error in comparison to the full models. Despite performance similarities across the two analysis approaches, the CHAID model revealed multiple winning performance indicator profiles, thereby increasing its comparative feasibility for use in the field. Coaches and analysts may find these results useful in informing strategy and game plan development in Australian Rules football, with the development of team-specific models recommended in future.  相似文献
