Virtual and Augmented Realities are advancing technologies that are becoming more popular in gaming and programming communities. However, virtual reality has been in development for decades. As libraries are often at the forefront of offering new and advancing technologies to their communities, virtual and augmented reality programs have become new additions to library services. While gaming is the prominent use of these technologies, virtual and augmented reality affords many educational opportunities. Assessing library topics using sentiment analysis in R: a discussion and code sample

Abstract

This article discusses the use of R programing language for executing a sentiment analysis of tweets pertaining to library topics. This discussion is situated within the literature of marketing and management sciences, which is employing methods of machine learning and business intelligence to make informed decision-making, and library administration, which has expressed great interest in social media engagement within its literature but has yet to adopt these types of analysis. Presented in this article is a sample code with instructions on how users may execute it within R to retrieve and analyze tweets relevant to library services. Two examples created using the code (analysis of top librarians’ tweets and analysis of posts about major book publishers) are used to demonstrate the functionality of the code. The code presented in this article may be used by libraries to analyze tweets about their library and library-related topics, which, in turn, may inform management and marketing design.  相似文献   

Usage Comparison between an English-Language and a French-Language E-Monograph Collection in a Bilingual Canadian University

Abstract

This article reports the results of a quantitative and systematic analysis comparing usage rates between English-language and French-language e-monograph titles at Laurentian University, Canada. Full-text viewings were collected as usage metrics. English-language e-monographs exhibited medium strength linear relationships between collection size and usage. On the other hand, French-language e-monographs exhibited weak linear relationships between collection size and usage. The French-language e-monograph collection experienced a higher rate of full-text use, relative to size. The cost-per-viewing ratio for the English-language e-monograph collection was higher than those that calculated for the French-language collection.  相似文献

我国现行的大学生体质监测管理模式分为行政统筹型和高校自主型两类,其实效性明显不足,为实现管理工作的长效规范和切实增进大学生体质健康,迫切需要重构大学生体质监测管理模式.认为,应在现状基础上构建三级、分类、联网的大学生群体体质监测管理模式和标准化投入、规范化监测、人性化服务相结合的大学生个体体质监测管理模式,并在国家、省、高校之间规范机构设置,完善机构职能,建立质量评估体系,提高运行效率,完善保障措施,落实服务与干预,以促进大学生体质监测管理工作取得实效.  相似文献   

政府购买全民健身公共服务的实施方案和保障机制研究

政府购买全民健身公共服务是服务型政府提供公共服务的新型发展方式,也是体育公共管理改革的重要途径.我国政府购买全民健身公共服务受诸多因素的影响,在法律监管、职能培育、行政管理、制度模式等方面仍存在一些瓶颈问题.通过分析政府购买全民健身公共服务内容、标准、模式、参数和范围,对政府购买全民健身公共服务的现状与特征进行阐释.研究认为:购买内容是"准全民健身公共服务",购买标准包括质量、计量和结果评价等,购买模式是竞标性购买,购买参数有健身服务、健身保障、健身管理和健身效果,购买范围主要集中在健全的承接主体市场、符合购买要求的资质条件、价格计量标准和计量考核标准.在对实施方案进行肯定的同时,提出合理的保障机制:建立与完善政府购买全民健身公共服务的法制体系;给予全民健身社会组织政策与资金的支持与保障;加强绩效评价与监管机制,提升全民健身公共服务公信力;突破现有的背景与制度安排,实现政府购买全民健身公共服务"正向嵌入性"程序制度.研究结果旨在为政府购买全民健身公共服务提供新的发展思路.  相似文献

There is a growing trend toward a consolidation of services for electronic resources management, A–Z journal listings, full text link resolving, and discovery services under a single service provider. In many cases, the adoption of a discovery service from a provider that is not the same as the libraries’ existing link resolver service means managing multiple knowledgebases. In this session, three librarians gave an overview of their experiences and strategies for maintaining separate link resolving and discovery services in lieu of adopting a full suite of services from a single service provider. Each speaker presented a case study on the advantages and challenges of managing their chosen discovery service: EBSCO Discovery Service, Ex Libris’ Primo and ProQuest’s Summon, in conjunction with the CUFTS/GODOT open source knowledgebase and link resolver service.  相似文献

This article describes a study conducted in York County, Pennsylvania, on its countywide library system framed within the context of the statewide “Reimaging Libraries” Get Storied initiative, developed and marketed by organizational story consultant, Michael Margolis. Understood as an essential aspect of culture re-imaging and change, narratives were collected from library personnel by undergraduate students at Pennsylvania State University-York as part of a service-learning initiative (directed by the first author). Working closely with the library district consultant (second author), we assess the success of the initiative and make some recommendations for culture reimaging through the practice of storytelling.  相似文献
