The aim of this study was to explore comprehension monitoring and perceived use of reading strategies as factors of reading comprehension. Participants were elementary school students from the fifth to the eighth grade. Error correction and text sensitivity tasks from the Metacomprehension test (Pazzaglia, De Beni, &; Cristante, 1994). and the cloze-task were used as measures of comprehension monitoring during reading. A Strategic reading questionnaire (Koli?-Vehovec &; Baj?anski, 2001b) was applied as a measure of perceived use of strategies during reading. Girls had better results than boys on text comprehension, all measures of comprehension monitoring, as well as on the Strategic reading questionnaire. Significant developmental improvements in comprehension monitoring occurred after the fifth grade and between the sixth and the eighth grade. A similar change was evident in reading comprehension. All measures of comprehension monitoring were significantly related to text comprehension in all age groups. However, perceived use of reading strategies was significantly related to reading comprehension only in eighth-grade students. 相似文献

This analysis, based on open interviews, focuses on the language of instruction, with full time students in Hong Kong universities. A mis-match was apparent between espoused theory or policy and theory in use, or practice, with respect to English as the medium of instruction, English as a second language and improvement of English standard at university. Student comments suggested that the discrepancies between policy and practice led to declining standards due to the lack of opportunities for practice. Bringing policy in line with practice, is recommended either by adopting first language instruction or by creating zones or occasions where it is expected that English will be used. 相似文献

Abstract Higher education in Croatia is confronted with new trends and quality demands mostly connected with Bologna processes. It is assumed that Croatian universities with their existing governance structures, characterised by strong state regulation and weak institutional administration, cannot respond effectively to new demands. Findings of the survey on conceptions of governance at the Croatian universities are presented in the paper, with its main aim to explore academic staff's perception of university governance. The idea of the university as a “learning organisation” with strong leadership and engaged academic staff is taken as the desired model. Mapping the opinions of academic staff on the present governance structures, their role in governance issues, and making an inventory of their perceptions of strengths and weaknesses of governance processes, forms important background for reflections on adequate modifications in academic governance. 相似文献

柔性浅基础不具备调整地基变形的能力,针对这一缺点,可在基底应力较大的部位设置强度较大的垫层,而在应力较小的部位设置强度较小的垫层,即通过在基底设置中心刚度大、边缘刚度小的变刚度垫层,以有效调整地基土的应力分布,改善地基土工作性状。采用PLAXIS2D有限元软件,分析比较了柔性浅基础下设置不同工况的变刚度垫层对地基土中应力分布及基础差异沉降的影响．发现在基底中部0．5～0．6倍基宽范围内设置变刚度垫层时,差异沉降控制效果最好。 相似文献
