Researching teachers' and parents' perceptions of dialogue

While there has been a great deal of research done on parent involvement and the challenges of conducting effective dialogue in parent–teacher meetings, less attention has been paid to how teachers and parents themselves perceive dialogue. The purpose of the present article is to study whether deliberative principles are vital to teachers' and parents' perceptions of dialogue. The study seeks to answer this question by initiating qualitative interviews with teachers and parents. The findings show that deliberative principles are definitively vital to the participants' perceptions of dialogue. They include basic deliberation values and procedural aspects of deliberation. However, it must be noted that the informants also include aspects that are not highlighted as core elements of deliberation, especially the importance of good relational qualities and informal talk. They also assign the professional a moderator role in parent–teacher meetings. Practical implications are discussed.  相似文献

Analysis of Presidential Primary Campaign Commercials of 2004

This article examines television advertising used during the 2004 presidential primary campaign. Based on interviews with the advertising creators and on repeated viewings by the author and his students it describes and analyzes the advertisements. It reveals that Iowa was the heavy spending state at $12.4 million. It discloses how Kerry won through heavy late spending depending on testimonial advertisements from veterans and others; how Edwards depended on talking-head and town meeting advertisements; how Dean's innovation was the delivery of advertisements on the internet; how Clark relied on a strong bio-documentary while Gephardt, Lieberman, and Kucinich had less notable advertisements.  相似文献   

Collaborative IEPs for the education of pupils with profound and multiple learning difficulties

Individual educational plans (IEPs) are considered to be more effective when designed and implemented by a multidisciplinary team. This paper deals with the IEP as a collaborative tool for the education of pupils with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD). Ten pupils with PMLD and the people working around them (e.g. teacher, speech and language therapist (SLT), physiotherapist, parents) were chosen as case studies. The design and implementation of IEPs were examined through IEP document analysis; semi‐structured interviews with teachers, parents and other professionals; observations at the Annual Review Meetings (ARMs); and follow‐up questionnaires to parents after the ARM. The study concludes that IEPs are not used as a tool for collaboration between teachers, parents and other professionals and this is attributed to the nature of the IEP itself. Collaborative changes are needed if IEPs are to be designed and implemented successfully. These changes include the introduction of broad goals, which could be shared between all those working around the child, together with less‐frequent but better‐quality evaluations of IEPs.  相似文献

通过文献资料法、问卷调查法、访谈法和数理统计法,对河南省10所普通高校运动会开展状况进行研究,分析得出,河南省普通高校高度重视学校运动会的举办,但是学生整体参与意识不强;项目设置专业化和竞技化程度较高,学生参与难度较大;学生整体参与人数少,与全员参与和全民健身差距显著;大学生对运动会参与动机积极向上,运动会现有竞赛评价考核体系不相匹配。  相似文献   

医学科技期刊专家外审结论与定稿会结论的一致性分析

【目的】 分析医学科技期刊稿件的专家外审结论与定稿会结论的一致性并探讨其产生差异的原因。【方法】 对比分析2016年11月至2017年4月《中华神经科杂志》6次定稿会讨论稿件的专家外审结论与定稿会结论之间的异同。【结果】 各类稿件的专家外审结论与定稿会结论的退稿一致性均较高,而录用一致性均欠佳,专家通过定稿会集体讨论得出的审稿意见比外审意见更为严格、科学和全面。【结论】 在稿源充足的条件下,若稿件的外审意见不佳可直接考虑退稿,缩短审稿周期,提高稿件的处理效率;而有必要将外审意见良好的稿件提交定稿会进行再次讨论,为稿件的学术质量进一步把关。通过对比外审结论与定稿会结论的一致性,也可甄别审稿专家的审稿专业程度。  相似文献
