This ethnographic study employs a gender perspective to understand the motivations of eight women literacy learners participating in a village‐based functional literacy programme in rural North‐eastern Thailand. Field research took place over six months of periodic residence in a North‐eastern Thai village, and involved participant observation, individual interviews and informal focus groups. An analysis of the women’s reproductive, productive and community roles, and their practical and strategic gender needs (Moser ) is used to frame findings on the women’s participation in the literacy programme. In brief, although the women valued educational programmes that reduced the burden of their reproductive labour, offered income‐generating opportunities in their productive roles and supported their leadership roles in the community, the village literacy programme had limited effect in addressing these practical gender needs. However, because a patriarchal ideology and Buddhist institutions had denied the women access to schooling as children, they now saw the literacy programme as both a symbolic return to school and a collective women’s space to advocate for more desirable adult educational programmes. In these ways, the programme addressed their strategic gender needs. The study argues that a gender lens is critical in explaining women’s participation in literacy programmes and in designing literacy education for development. 相似文献

从以下几方面详细介绍一项为期3年(2009-2011)的中德合作科研课题——"健康行为和健康资源的身体活动:阶段、决定因素和效益"。(1)阐述"从无活动到保持活动的4步骤(FIT)模型"的理论建构。(2)以FIT模型为基础,检验中文版和德文版"成年人身体活动调查问卷"的信效度水平。(3)以中德成年人为研究被试,考查FIT模型的效度。研究结果表明:FIT模型能够较准确地描述中德两国成年人身体活动变化过程的阶段性特征及其影响因素,该模型的阶段算法效度、诊断功能及服务干预的功能均得到初步验证,为未来进行基于FIT模型的阶段匹配干预研究提供了理论依据和实证支持。 相似文献

Summary Minitools are software tools that have been especially designed and implemented for use in education and on small industrial problems. They offer limited capabilities if compared to full-grown commercial systems but are much easier to learn and to use. Three such programs are introduced in this paper: DESolver for differential equation solving; Frequency for frequency response analysis and design; and BDE Sim for simulation and frequency response analysis from block diagrams. BlockSim, which is more a tool for implementation than a minitool, is also presented briefly. The four programs run on Macintosh and IBM compatible PCs. All programs are in the public domain; on the IBM PC a GEM desktop is needed to run them. 相似文献

This article reports a comparative study of teacher acceptance of two kinds of testing reports that were generated for Form A of the Iowa Tests of Basic Skills at the fourth-grade level. Locally produced reports similar to the traditional ones provided by the test publisher were evaluated against experimental reports that were computer generated in a narrative format. On a random basis, 52 teachers from 16 schools received either the traditional or experimental testing reports for their class, and were asked to evaluate the reports on six scales: clear, useful, meaningful, valuable, sufficient, and accurate, for each of three purposes: information for the teacher on individual students, class-summary information, and information for use at a parent-teacher meeting. On 15 of the 18 comparisons between the traditional and experimental reports, the experimental reports were rated significantly higher. 相似文献

In recent years, the world of engineering education has been changing rapidly. Emerging communication technologies offer new means of distance education, the job market is getting narrower and increasingly competitive, and numerous stakeholders are concerned about the quality of education the students receive. To offer quality assurance to interested parties and the general public, engineering faculties in the US and Canada undergo accreditation processes, fostered by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology and the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board, which are professional boards. However, some university-level institutions in Europe have turned to the ISO 9000 family of international standards as a framework for quality assurance. This paper provides an outline of these three quality assurance schemes, followed by a comparison of their common elements. It is argued that engineering faculties can establish meaningful ISO 9000 quality systems on the basis of, and integrated with, the accreditation schemes. Finally, recent European initiatives for quality assurance in engineering education are addressed. 相似文献
