In 2001, the University of North Texas (UNT) Libraries developed their own electronic resource management (ERM) system to track their online resources and contracts. Over the past decade, the programming and upkeep for the homegrown system had become too much of a burden, and the decision was made to move to a vendor-supported ERM system. In the summer of 2012, UNT began the implementation of Innovative’s ERM module. This presentation covered the steps involved in that implementation and the lessons learned on how best to prepare for a radical shift in workflows and procedures. 相似文献

Electronic resource management (ERM) workflows in academic libraries are characterized by their complex and constantly shifting nature. This article describes four phases of effective workflow management including careful planning, development of workflow strategies, staffing and identification of resources, and integration of ERM and communication tools. The importance of supporting effective communication strategies is emphasized throughout the article. Information obtained from informal interviews with eight academic librarians provides discussion points on workflows given up and workflows maintained as libraries transition to larger electronic resource collections. 相似文献

As electronic serials have shifted from being the exception to the norm, libraries are becoming increasingly reliant on knowledge base-driven systems to help manage electronic serial holdings. In 2011, the University of Toronto Libraries migrated its electronic resource holdings from a local database to a commercial electronic resource management (ERM) system. With two years of experience using a commercial ERM system, the presenters endeavored to analyze how the library is coping with e-serial management within this new environment. This study reveals many of the benefits and pitfalls of managing electronic journals within a knowledge base–driven system and highlights the need for greater standardization within the data supply chain, better communication with publishers and knowledge base providers, and increased collaboration to improve the e-resource management process. 相似文献

[目的/意义]为了解决高校图书馆电子资源使用统计和效益评估缺乏高效、准确、实用的统计方法、工具和实证研究的问题,以电子资源利用绩效分析平台（Electronic Resource Utilization Performance Analysis Platform,ERS）管理和评估外文电子期刊的实践为例,探索电子资源动态管理和评估的方法,为图书馆收集和管理电子资源利用与评估数据提供参考。[方法/过程]主要讨论基于服务器端COUNTER报告数据的电子资源管理与分析系统的基本功能和工作流程,并以上海财经大学图书馆利用ERS进行外文电子期刊的资源管理、引文分析、核心资源与学科资源分析和数据库评估为例,讨论电子资源管理与评估的方法。[结果/结论]以上海财经大学图书馆外文电子期刊的统计分析实践为基础,发现利用基于COUNTER报告数据的电子资源管理与分析平台能够为图书馆的资源采购提供决策支持,为学科服务提供深度的资源揭示,具有一定的可行性和实用性。 相似文献

Amanda Yesilbas, Electronic Resources librarian at the Florida Center for Library Automation (FCLA), gave a presentation at the MidSouth eResource Symposium held at Mississippi State University on August 11, 2011 entitled Using Drupal to Track Licenses and Organize Database Information. Yesilbas presented information on how she used Drupal, a free open-source content management system, to organize database elements, such as vendor records, license contracts, and statistics data. She discussed Drupal's ease of use and flexibility and how FCLA used it to manage their electronic resources. Yesilbas also gave a brief demonstration of Drupal and its functionality and ease of use. 相似文献

��[Purpose/significance] Alma, the next generation library service platform, has truly realized the unified platform management of printing, electronic and digital resources in a practical sense. In particular, electronic resources have been managed by platform instead of manual operation. Exploring and studying the content, process and principles of electronic resource management in Alma are crucial for high-quality management.[Method/process] The work content, process and principles of Alma's electronic resource management were continuously explored and analyzed in usual work, and the actual situation of library and platform functions were also combined, and finally the experience and methods were formed, which can be used to guide and support the library to use Alma to manage the life cycle of electronic resources.[Result/conclusion] The management of electronic resources by using the next generation library service platform requires clear working principles, contents and process management, and the combination of the actual situation of the library and the functions of the platform in the formulation process can achieve twice the result with half the effort and better management of electronic resources. 相似文献

This presentation focused on how elements of the electronic resource lifecycle, such as those described in the NASIG Core Competencies for Electronic Resource Librarians and the Techniques for Electronic Resource Management, apply to the management of physical library projects, including the weeding and shifting of physical collections, a digitization project, as well as other “duties as assigned” that are part of the average librarian’s workload at a small library. The article will outline the Core Competencies for Electronic Resources Librarians (NASIG Core Competencies Task Force [July 2013]) and intersect them with the practical everyday working experiences of an e-resources and periodicals librarian.
