The article focuses on some points of view in disagreement with Bley-Vroman’s. In the author’s opinion, different from the L1 learning, UG is not or partially accessible to the adult foreign language learners. Some evidence is exposed to support the author’s hypothesis. Since 1970s,the research on second language acquisition has been developed with times.The research focus of lLanguage teach ing has shifted from the study of how to teach students to how to learn for students,with particular attention to explore the influence that students’psychological factors such as learning motivation,learning attitude and learning anxiety have on learning outcomes.Among those emotional variables,anxiety is considered to be one of the most critical psychological variables.English classroom anxiety is different from the ordinary classroom anxiety and receives much attention from scholars.Horwiz(1986) pointed out that foreign language anxiety is a unique phenomenon in language learning.In China,English learning in senior high school is a very important period.It is a common phenomenon to see students behaving anxiously in the English class.Therefore,the anxiety in the English class of senior high school de serves attention.This paper will analyze the main reasons of students’anxiety and points out several effectively methods to relieve their anxiety so as to enhance English classroom teaching and learning effect.  相似文献

The role of motivation in language learning has been studied since the 1960s. It is indeed one of the most important areas of linguistics. This paper suggests strategies of motivating language learners and focuses on the role which motivation can play in language learning. The concept of motivation from different points of view is defined, a number of suggestions on how to motivate language learners are presented and the role of motivation based on various motivational theories are highlighted. With regard to the role of motivation in language learning, it is concluded that motivation plays an increasingly important role in many aspects, such as identifying with the target language society, achieving long-term and short-term goals, improving language learners‘ internal and external powers and exerting a group force. It also indicates that there should be more research areas to be examined and a long way is probably requlred to go in future theoretical and practical study.  相似文献

This paper focuses on the similarities and differences of different age groups in learning a foreign language from physical, cognitive, affective, motivational and linguistic domains. Since Krashen put forward the Affective Filter Hypothesis, more and more concern has been paid to the anxiety problem in Second and foreign language teaching and learning. Meanwhile, CL (cooperative learning) has gained much attention in recent years, both at home and abroad. Most researches (Oxford & Ehrman, 1993; Kagan, 1994; Slavin, 1995) on CL indicated that CL is a classroom procedure which can lower anxiety and improve learning outcomes. Although the researches abroad have suggested that CL has a positive impact on reducing foreign language learning anxiety, few empirical researches on CL have been conducted in China. Moreover, according to the author's observation, anxiety is most obvious in oral English activities. Therefore, this thesis attempts to investigate some Chinese non-English freshmen's foreign language learning anxiety. Two classes are involved in the study: one as the experimental class instructed with CL method, the other as the control class taught with the traditional teaching method. By using a classical instrument, the FLCAS (foreign language classroom anxiety scale), this study examined the subjects' foreign language learning anxiety. According to the analysis and comparison of the first and second FLCAS, the author finds CL has a significant effect on reducing students' foreign language learning anxiety.  相似文献

It is very important to understand the differences and relationships between implicit learning and explicit learning no matter from the theoretical perspective or practical perspective. It would make the English teaching in China more feasible and effective if these two kinds of learning patterns could be combined appropriately. Seen from the theoretical perspective, the logical explanation to different achievements made by implicit learners and explicit learners gives a significant inspiration for English teaching. Seen from the practical perspective, even a little child can master the mother tongue quickly while an adult seems to find it more difficult to be proficient of another language. In this paper, the author makes a tentative study on the influence of implicit and explicit learning in English teaching. In this article I would Iike to suggest that not only is 'role-play' useful in the learning of language but it is essential. Coming from a theatre background I am particularly concerned with language as a means of rem communication. When we are Children we learn our native language unconsciously; we learn grammar by having our mistakes corrected by our parents and by the necessity of making ourselves understood. But, when we are learning a second language our ability to learn unconsciously is impaired by our adult minds. However, we can simulate the way a child learns by learning the second language in-countrg but this is often difficult to achieve. So, 'role-play' must be the next best thing.  相似文献

In foreign language teaching,it has always been found that there are many language learners whose second language(L2)level remains stagnant or even becomes worse no matter how hard they try.However,this may not relate to their attention given to language but to interlanguage fossilization,which results from various causes,is ubiquitous in second language acquisition(SLA)and foreign language learning.This paper,based on the empirical evidence of language learning and acquisition,probes into the nature and characteristics of interlanguage,analyzes the main causes of fossilization,and discusses pedagogical implications for avoiding fossilization in English language learning.  相似文献
