This research reports on the efforts of six middle school and high school science teachers in a public school district in New York City to balance innovative teaching methods and strategies with the New York State Learning Standards and Regents requirements. More specifically, this research examines the factors that influenced the implementation of project-based approaches to teaching and learning science. Observations of meetings and classrooms, and collection of artifacts such as curricula, project planners, demographic profiles, student work, and test results served as the primary data sources that were triangulated and related to current theory on project-based learning in science. Four teachers embraced aspects of project-based learning in science and two rejected most aspects of teaching project-based learning in science. 新课程改革以来,小学科学教材实验和教学实施情况是小学科学教师关注的热点问题。为了解小学科学教材与教学的现状,我们进行了一次较大规模的问卷调查。调查表明,小学科学教材和教学的现状与培养创新人才、大力提高未成年人科学素质的要求还有一定的差距。小学科学教育还需在课程教材建设、课程资源建设和教师培养与培训等方面加强研究与投入。  相似文献

通过对四川部分小学的走访,发现当前小学科学教育教学存在的问题主要有:小学科学教师素养不高,科学师资缺乏;教学设备不足,科学课程资源匮乏;现行小学科学教材无法满足城乡不同需求;大班教学,难以保证教学质量;小学科学教师对新课程的理解与执行不相适应。针对存在的问题提出相应的对策,主要是:加大对科学教育经费的投入力度,提高科学教育教学质量;加大科学教师培训力度,尽快适应新课程改革;小学科学教师应着力提高自身科学素养,以适应新课程需要;编写适宜的地方小学科学教材,以满足城乡不同需求;营造良好的社会环境,齐抓共管,提高小学科学教育教学质量。  相似文献

The first part of this study was carried out in a primary school in a rural part of Wales in the United Kingdom. All classrooms were equipped with interactive whiteboards (IWBs) linked to a teacher’s computer and six PCs for pupil use. Teaching through ICT was the prevalent culture in the school. Thirty year six pupils [aged 10–11 years] were selected at random from the final year cohort and were interviewed to determine their views about school science and their views about the teaching methods employed. The pupils moved to a medium sized secondary school where the teachers were beginning to develop their ICT skills and the availability of the computers was limited. The group was re-interviewed after 3 months, once they had settled in to their new school, and were again asked their views about school science and the way it was taught. While in the primary school, pupils expected to use ICT in every lesson, they enjoyed the way information was presented and they were interested in finding things out for themselves when given the opportunity. The lack of ICT in the secondary school caused some frustration, but this was mostly with the teaching of ICT, and the group remained predominantly enthusiastic about science. Those who were less keen on science indicated that it was a teacher factor rather than anything to do with the resources being used. In general the pupils particularly enjoyed the practical aspects of science lessons, something that they had not experienced in the primary school, which compensated for the relative lack of ICT in science teaching.  相似文献

This paper is, in part, a narrative account of a teacher educator's professional growth during a longitudinal case study of three primary science teachers, Katie, Jean and Ruth, as they made the transition from pre-service to inservice teaching. The study sought to explore ways in which the beginning teachers perceived and dealt with constraints to science teaching in the primary school, and how they changed and adapted the knowledge and skills developed at university in a practical situation. The findings of the study are organised by considering what we, the researchers, saw as three categories of challenge for these beginning primary science teachers, their initial alienation from the study of science, the differences between teaching science and teaching other subjects in the primary school, and the impact of novice status on science teaching. Working with participants to help them respond to these challenges became an occasion for our own development as science educators.  相似文献

This study analyses several Irish primary school science textbook sets to evaluate their potential to support Inquiry-based Science Education (IBSE). The study was prompted by the results of the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NCCA) 2008 survey of Irish primary science which indicated that a 72% of surveyed teachers are using science textbooks within their teaching. The reliance on deductive methodologies, such as the using textbooks, has been attributed to a lack of pedagogical content knowledge. As the Irish primary science curriculum was changed to be more experiential in 2003, it is unlikely that deductive teaching from textbooks aligns with the new aims and objectives of the curriculum. This research analyses three textbook groups through the lens of the 5E model of teaching, a well-known framework for teaching through inquiry. A four-layer framework was developed around the 5E model that would highlight the strengths and weaknesses of textbooks in supporting IBSE. The results indicate that the various textbooks contain different structures, pedagogies and content, which can potentially be used to support the development of IBSE schema however, professional development must be provided as to how best to integrate textbooks into practice.  相似文献

信息化教学资源建设与应用水平能一定程度反映区域教育信息化发展情况。以广元地区为例,开展小学科学信息化教学资源研究,对了解我国西部欠发达农村地区的教育信息化水平和有针对性提出改进建议有借鉴作用。研究发现,我国小学科学信息化教学资源建设与应用取得了价值认同感高、能有效支持课堂教学和教师建设资源参与度增强等成果,还存在资源种类陈旧、优质信息化资源难共享和信息化资源使用模式落后等问题,可以从用新教学理念构建新教学模式、整合优势共建共享和打造地域特色信息化教学资源等方面提高信息化教学资源建设与应用水平。  相似文献
