Research suggests that spatial ability may predict success in complex disciplines including anatomy, where mastery requires a firm understanding of the intricate relationships occurring along the course of veins, arteries, and nerves, as they traverse through and around bones, muscles, and organs. Debate exists on the malleability of spatial ability, and some suggest that spatial ability can be enhanced through training. It is hypothesized that spatial ability can be trained in low-performing individuals through visual guidance. To address this, training was completed through a visual guidance protocol. This protocol was based on eye-movement patterns of high-performing individuals, collected via eye-tracking as they completed an Electronic Mental Rotations Test (EMRT). The effects of guidance were evaluated using 33 individuals with low mental rotation ability, in a counterbalanced crossover design. Individuals were placed in one of two treatment groups (late or early guidance) and completed both a guided, and an unguided EMRT. A third group (no guidance/control) completed two unguided EMRTs. All groups demonstrated an increase in EMRT scores on their second test (P < 0.001); however, an interaction was observed between treatment and test iteration (P = 0.024). The effect of guidance on scores was contingent on when the guidance was applied. When guidance was applied early, scores were significantly greater than expected (P = 0.028). These findings suggest that by guiding individuals with low mental rotation ability “where” to look early in training, better search approaches may be adopted, yielding improvements in spatial reasoning scores. It is proposed that visual guidance may be applied in spatial fields, such as STEMM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics and medicine), surgery, and anatomy to improve student's interpretation of visual content. The progressively global, neoliberal, privatised, and digital education environment poses new methodological challenges for educational researchers, prompting a need to innovate. It has been suggested, however, that better commentary and reflection on methodological innovation in education is required. This paper considers the benefits and challenges associated with the use of network ethnography, one methodological approach that has emerged to address new social complexities. We explain the rationale for, and process of, this methodology through reference to an illustrative case: a network ethnography of the outsourcing of Health and Physical Education (HPE) curricular work to external providers. In doing this we map and critique three interrelated activities (i.e. Internet searches, interviews, and network diagram construction) that constituted our network ethnography. The discussion turns to how network ethnography allowed us to access new knowledge about the outsourcing of HPE curricular work to external providers by, for example, facilitating us in asking different questions, and foregrounding various stakeholders, networks and relationships that we may not have discovered had we relied on other approaches. This illustrative case demonstrates the capacity of network ethnography to generate rich data and offers a provocation for educational researchers to consider expanding their methodological repertoire.  相似文献

目的:基于自行车运动员的训练负荷实证评价,探讨竞速运动项目训练负荷主观感知疲劳评价(session rating of perceived exertion,SRPE)的有效性,并证明训练因素[心率(HR)、训练压力分数(TSS)、训练刺激量(TRIMP)、代谢当量(MET)、能量消耗(EE)]与非训练因素(自感疲劳、压力等级、睡眠质量、肌肉酸痛、训练积极性)对训练负荷量(SRPETL)的影响作用。方法:10名优秀职业自行车运动员(均为男性),测试开始前1周均未进行过大强度运动。运用SRPE、心率计(Garmin佳明HRM-tri)、码表(Garmin佳明edge 200)、身心恢复测试量表等对42天的高原训练负荷进行测试。内部负荷采用SRPE-TL、ETRIMP、ETRIMP、%HRmax表示,外部负荷采用TSS、MET、EE表示。结果:平均每周的SRPE-TL为5 300±1 512 AU。训练单调性(TM)为2.22±0.81 AU,训练应激(TS)为12 766±1 334 AU。SRPE-TL与各测试指标之间具有显著相关性(r=0.58~0.81)。逐步多元回归分析结果表明ETRIMP、TSS、自感疲劳、肌肉酸痛和压力等级可以解释SRPE-TL 71.8%的变异程度(Y=453.12+2.99 ETRIMP+1.20 TSS-114.81自感疲劳-111.30肌肉酸痛+85.81压力等级)。结论:SRPE是评价竞速项目训练负荷的一种有效手段,并且SRPETL是一个全域性指标,且训练因素与非训练因素均对运动员感知疲劳有影响作用。  相似文献

Research remains unclear on the impact of physiological load on perceptual-cognitive skills in sport. Moreover, no study has examined the training of perceptual-cognitive skills under physiological load. The current study comprised two phases. Firstly, we examined the impact of badminton-specific physiological load on anticipatory skills in expert badminton players (n = 13), including key underlying mechanisms, such as gaze behaviour. Under high physiological load, participants displayed less efficient visual search behaviour and showed a reduction in response accuracy. Secondly, we examined the effects of combining perceptual-cognitive simulation training with the high physiological load. Ten of the expert badminton players were assigned to a combined training group, where the simulation training and the physiological load intervention occurred simultaneously or an independent training group, whereby the two components were completed independently. The combined training group showed a positive change in the efficiency of their visual search behaviours compared to the independent training group, but no significant performance improvements were found. Overall, findings demonstrate that high physiological load is detrimental to experts’ anticipatory skills. However, combining perceptual-cognitive simulation training with high physiological load can potentially negate these debilitating effects.  相似文献

针对救助船消防训练中存在的海况复杂,对外消防炮射流受风影响大,往往无法准确控制其射向目标区域的问题,在理想状态下射流理论的基础上探究风对射流轨迹的影响,建立自然风条件下射流轨迹的数学模型,模拟对外消防炮射流的运动情况。应用3ds Max构建船舶模型,用Unity3D构建救助船在面临大风浪、遇险船着火等状况时对外消防系统的工作场景,提出一种精确构建粒子系统轨迹的方法,使射流模型能精确体现在场景中。通过虚拟现实设备能实现救助船对外消防培训仿真系统的立体显示和人机交互,起到更好的虚拟仿真和培训效果。  相似文献

运用文献资料法和专家访谈法,对足球德比文化的现象与内涵、形成因素及其特征、形成的理论解释进行了研究。指出,德比现象与内涵都随社会变化得到延展,现象上从最初的地理对抗向文化领域甚至更大范围扩展,内涵上对德比的概念界定从客观条件向主观条件延伸。认为,群体间的冲突、同侪、偏见对德比的形成和延续有显著作用,显示出德比的形成因素具有竞争性、相似性、差异性三方面的特征。“争议密度”和“竞争对手威胁论”是用来解释德比形成原因的两大理论,经过比较分析,认为竞争对手威胁论可以更为清晰地解释德比的形成与延续的内涵,克服了以往研究的局限性。对于我国足球而言,探究足球德比文化具有重要现实意义,通过借鉴西方的成熟经验培育具有中国特色的足球文化,亦有助于我国足球“三步走”战略目标的实现。  相似文献

ABSTRACT

The role and importance of peripheral vision have been discussed across various sports. Yet, its functionality remains unclear and the terms employed in the literature to characterize the use of peripheral vision are not well defined. We present a review of 29 studies focusing on the use of peripheral vision in sports. We focus on the methodological approaches employed to study its use and identify the mechanisms that may underlie the effective use of peripheral vision in sport. We define key differences between ‘gaze anchors’ and ‘visual pivots’ and introduce the concept of a ‘foveal spot’. All three gaze behaviors, while being characterized by a consistent, dynamically adjustable gaze location, have different functionalities. A gaze anchor is a cue-optimized position used for the monitoring of peripheral cues and avoiding the negative consequences of saccades (i.e. information suppression), especially under time pressure. A visual pivot is a distance-optimized location between relevant cues which allows athletes to optimally initiate saccades to those cues, especially if the costs of eye-movements are low. A foveal spot is primarily used for information processing via the fovea. Finally, we highlight suggestions for future research to improve our understanding of the functional differences between these gaze behaviors.  相似文献

Over the past two decades, scientific editors have attempted to correct “mistaken” assumptions about scientific images and to curb unethical image-manipulation practices. Reactions to the advent and abuse of image-adjustment software (such as Adobe Photoshop) reveal the complex relations among visual representations, scientific credibility, and epistemic rhetoric. Perelman and Olbrechts-Tyteca's model of argumentation provides a flexible system for understanding these relations and for teaching students to use scientific images ethically and effectively.  相似文献
