This article challenges measurement specialists and other physical education and exercise science professionals to explore alternative models that are not based on classical test theory. Examples illustrate how the many-facet Rasch model has been used to solve measurement problems associated with performance assessments in the fields of medicine, business, and sport. A second challenge calls for more collaborative research efforts that address measurement problems in physical education and exercise science. The measurement subdiscipline will advance in the 21st century if these challenges are met.  相似文献

The articles published in the Measurement in Physical Education and Exercise Science (MPEES) journal over the first 10 volumes were categorized by content area and methodology. The authors have offered opinions here concerning the changes observed over the 10-year period, the areas that are well-represented, and other potential areas of research that were not included. The purpose and intent of the journal has been to publish measurement research in areas related to physical education and exercise science. 探索当前国际儿童肥胖症运动疗法研究的特征、趋势及热点内容,为不断推动我国儿童肥胖症运动疗法研究发展提供理论支撑。方法:计算机检索Web of Science、PubMed和EMbase数据库,收集以儿童肥胖与运动疗法为研究主题的科研文献,共1 469篇,借助SATI、SPSS、UCINET等软件对文献进行主题聚类与内容分析。结果:(1)有关儿童肥胖症运动疗法研究的发文量呈逐年递增趋势,发文量最多的国家为美国、英国、加拿大等西方经济发达国家;(2)研究力量主要分布于欧美地区的综合型高等院校之中,高产作者之间形成了6大凝聚力较强的核心科学研究合作集群,但其跨地域和跨机构间的合作交流并不密切;(3)学科领域以体育科学为主导,医学、营养学、内分泌与新陈代谢学、公共环境与职业健康、内科学、护理学、生理学、心理学、教育学、康复学、家庭科学、社会科学、生物医学和环境科学等多学科多领域互相交叉的综合性学科群;(4)研究热点主要围绕有氧运动、抗阻训练、运动与饮食、营养策略以及相关的流行疾病学等5个方面展开。结论:运动疗法在儿童肥胖预防与治疗过程中的应用是当前学者们关注的热点问题。研究热点揭示了当前国际儿童肥胖运动疗法主要内容,即有氧训练、抗阻训练以及有氧与抗阻训练联合的干预策略。其中,抗阻训练在预防和辅助治疗儿童肥胖方面具有较大的潜力和优势。  相似文献

影响人的印象形成的信息很多。本文旨在研究参与体育锻炼能否作为一种信息来影响人的印象的形成。结果表明:个体体育锻炼的信息可以影响人的印象的形成。人们普遍对体育锻炼者有较高的欢迎程度,而对不锻炼者有较明显的坏的印象。这种信息也正潜移默化的促使更多的人参与体育锻炼。  相似文献

Qualitative research includes a family of loosely related inquiry traditions rooted in psychology, sociology, and anthropology. Each differs in origins, assumptions, central questions, and methods. They are united at a deeper paradigmatic level, however, by a shared view of the nature of the world which distinguishes all qualitative research traditions from the conventional natural science model of inquiry in the domains of education, sport, and exercise. This divergence of world view is illustrated by how scientists using qualitative and conventional designs would respond to the query, "How do you know?" There, qualitative traditions yield distinctly different perspectives on questions about the social world. Despite both heuristic power and great promise for application in sport and physical education, however, unresolved questions and troublesome concerns remain. Active scholars, editors, reviewers, and research consumers will control the future for qualitative research and all must stretch to accommodate an unfamiliar way of knowing.  相似文献

One aspect of construct validity is the extent to which the measurement properties of a rating scale are invariant across the groups being compared. An increasingly used method for assessing between-group differences in the measurement properties of items of a scale is the framework of differential item functioning (DIF). In this paper we introduce the concept of DIF as a validation tool for scales used in physical education and exercise science, and illustrate the use of the cumulative common log-odds ratio for assessing the presence of DIF with data from the Exercise Imagery Inventory (EII; Giacobbi, Hausenblas, & Penfield, 2005).  相似文献

For 25 years, adapted physical educators have been required to meet federal mandates for assessment with few tools and even less preparation for the requirement of determining the current level of performance of students with disabilities. Today, with shrinking resources, educational agencies are gladly embracing the option of inclusion-a less costly way of serving students with disabilities. But, are the technology and professionals any more ready today to decide if inclusion is the appropriate placement than they were in 1975?

Over the past 20 years, adapted physical education specialists have contributed to their own cause by developing alternative tests and test items to enable practitioners to comply with legal mandates. Measurement specialists have continued to ponder the essence of reliability, validity, and objectivity with little effort devoted to the development of tools to be used in the field. Measurement textbooks have expanded to cover measurement of students with disabilities and more attention is being given to qualitative and criterion-referenced measures. However, the state of the art is still lagging behind the demands placed on teachers.

The strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats to progress have not changed much in the past 25 years. More shared knowledge is needed around measurement of students with disabilities-measurement specialists need to be more sensitive to the needs of adapted physical educators in the field and adapted physical educators need to join hands with measurement specialists to solve problems together.  相似文献
