This study assessed the correlation of burnout among community college nursing faculty members and their use of humor to mediate academic stress related to burnout. Sixty-three community college nursing faculty members were studied using an academic profile survey, the Coping Humor Scale, and the Maslach Burnout Inventory. Forty percent of community college nursing faculty members surveyed reported high to moderate levels of emotional exhaustion, with 73 % experiencing low feelings of personal accomplishment. Differences in burnout between high versus low humor usage respondents showed a higher sense of personal accomplishment with high humor usage. Of those with low humor usage, workload was related to emotional exhaustion and depersonalization.  相似文献

K-12 teaching is a profession characterized by high levels of burnout and emotional exhaustion. Teacher burnout has been widely reviewed and studied; however, only limited literature examines the emotional aspects of teachers’ lives and its connection with teacher burnout. The purpose of this article is to review the literature on teacher burnout and teachers’ emotions and to examine the role of teachers' appraisal of their emotional exhaustion. Through reviewing the literature on teacher burnout and emotions, I argue that the habitual patterns in teachers’ judgments about student behavior and other teaching tasks may contribute significantly to teachers’ repeated experience of unpleasant emotions and those emotions may eventually lead to burnout. In order to ease teacher burnout, I argue that more studies on the antecedent appraisals that teachers make are necessary to help teachers better understand how their emotions were triggered and then learn how to regulate those emotions.  相似文献

The Nigerian tertiary educational system has been ravaged by incessant strike action, which appears to defy all attempts to find solutions. This paper reports on a study that examines the impact of job satisfaction and burnout on attitudes towards strike actions among employees of a Nigerian university. A total of 576 employees participated in the study, 263 men and 313 women, with a mean age of 38.49 years. The Attitude to Strike Scale, Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire-Short Form, and Teacher’s Burnout Scale were used to collect data. Findings showed that employees with low job satisfaction and high burnout reported significantly a more positive attitude towards strike action than those with higher job satisfaction and lower burnout. It was suggested that governments and administrators of Nigerian tertiary institutions should device strategies to improve workers’ job satisfaction and reduce burnout as ways of reducing the workers’ likelihood to embark on strike actions.  相似文献

河北省中学教师职业倦怠现状的调查研究   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
目的:探讨河北省中学教师职业倦怠的现状和特点。方法:采用修订的MBI教师职业倦怠量表对河北省513名中学教师进行调查。结果:(1)河北省中学教师职业倦怠的总体程度不高,但情感耗竭程度相对比较严重;(2)河北省中学教师职业倦怠中三个维度随教龄增长呈现出“两头低,中间高”的趋势;(3)高中教师的职业倦怠水平显著高于初中教师;(4)5~14年教龄和15年以上教龄初中教师职业倦怠水平都显著高于0~4年教龄段的初中教师。结论:河北省中学教师职业倦怠总体不太严重,但在情感耗竭维度方面较为突出;高中教师以及教龄在5~14年的教师职业倦怠总体程度更高,因此更需要社会的关注。  相似文献

目的:基于不同地区及人口学特征,对汶川地震重灾区医务工作者职业倦怠现状进行分析。方法:采用统计描述、T检验和方差分析。结果:受灾程度严重、经济水平及交通通达性高的灾区是职业倦怠高发地;处在“事业爬坡期”者是职业倦怠高危人群;医技人员和行政后勤管理人员的职业倦怠应引起重视。建议:干预措施要因地、因人而异,高危地人群和“事业爬坡期”人群是重点干预对象;关注医技和行政后勤管理人员的职业倦怠问题。  相似文献

以河北省幼儿教师为被试,采用问卷调查法研究河北省幼儿教师的职业倦怠及影响因素。研究表明:河北省99%的幼儿教师有明显的职业倦怠表现,教师的教龄、学历、婚否及有无孩子对其职业倦怠影响明显,其中工作时间少于5年的幼儿教师的总体倦怠程度比其他教龄段教师的总体工作倦怠程度更低;中专或高中学历的幼儿教师,相比较大专和本科学历的教师,表现出更大的工作倦怠;已婚和有孩子的幼儿教师,相对于未婚和无孩子的幼儿教师,在工作中体验到更严重的倦怠感。  相似文献

大学生学习倦怠的现状及其影响因素   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
为调查大学生学习倦怠的现状,采用大学生学习倦怠量表,对330名大学生进行施测;将学习倦怠总分按照升序排列,取前27%作为低分组,即低倦怠组,取后27%作为高分组,即高倦怠组;从高分组和低分组中各取10人进行访谈,将访谈结果进行总结对比,找出其影响因素,并提出有效可行的干预措施.结果显示:大学生学习倦怠水平较高,行为不当最为严重;在性别上,女生在成就感低上高于男生;在年级上,大二学生的总倦怠高于大四学生,大二、大三学生的情绪低落高于大四学生;在学科上,理科学生的总倦怠、情绪低落、成就感低都高于文科学生;引起大学生学习倦怠的原因是多方面的,需要社会、家庭、学校和个体四管其下,共同努力,其中个体起主要的作用.  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to determine causes of, and differences in, stress and burnout in 405 middle, upper, high school and sixth form college teachers in one Local Education Authority in England. Stress and bumout were generally low, but individual, e.g. locus of control, stability of personality; environmental, e.g. too much work, taking extra‐curricular activities, taking work home to do more often; and psychological, e.g. role conflict, role ambiguity; variables correlated with stress and burnout. Multiple regression analyses showed that high anxiety, spending more hours on work at home each time it was taken home and high role conflict collectively predicted stress, and high anxiety and high role conflict collectively predicted bumout. Role conflict, locus of control, stability of personality and anxiety were among the variables that accounted for significant differences in stress and bumout. There were no significant differences between headteachers and subject teachers or men and women on stress or bumout. Results indicated that although individual stress and burnout management is important, elimination of stress and burnout will not be possible without action to reduce/ eliminate environmental Stressors. Further studies could include case studies of a particular school, or studies of stress in students to determine whether it is possible to anticipate who is more likely to experience stress and burnout.  相似文献

目的:探讨在全面二孩政策下儿科护士职业倦怠原因,并提出相应措施。方法:对鲁北地区8所二甲以上医院125名儿科护士进行调查,探讨其职业倦怠的成因,并提出相应措施。结果:儿科护士工作倦怠评分为153.31±15.24分,其职业倦怠的生理、心理症状等与年龄相关。结论:儿科护士的职业倦怠发生率较高,应从儿科护士的心理干预、教育培训、社会支持等方面进行改善,提高儿科护士抵御职业倦怠的能力。  相似文献

Irrational beliefs have been linked to negative unhealthy emotions that can contribute to occupational burnout. Maladaptive cognitive schemas, such as irrational beliefs, are theorized to interfere with an appraisal of the perceived balance of resources and demands. The aim of the current study is to investigate the extent to which irrational beliefs account for occupational burnout among high school teachers when considering school resources, job demands, and teacher characteristics. A sample of 79 high school teachers, primarily from New York and New Jersey, completed self‐report questionnaires measuring burnout, the perception of school demands and availability of resources, and irrational beliefs. Among school‐based characteristics, correlational analyses indicated that burnout was positively related to school demands (i.e., student disrespect and student lack of attentiveness) and negatively related to school resources (i.e., support from the administration and colleagues), supporting previous research findings. Among teacher characteristics, burnout was negatively related to self‐efficacy and positively related to irrational beliefs. Results from regression analyses indicated that, whereas irrational beliefs were predictive of teacher burnout, they did not moderate the relationship between demands and burnout. Implications, limitations, and directions for future directions for research are discussed.  相似文献

采用大学生专业承诺量表和学习倦怠量表对285名学前教育专业大学生专业承诺和学习倦怠状况及关系进行测量,结果表明学前教育专业大学生的专业承诺水平一般,而学习倦怠水平较高,且存在显著的性别差异和年级差异;学前教育专业学生的专业承诺与学习倦怠有显著负相关;情感承诺是其学习倦怠的重要预测变量。可以通过赋予学生专业选择自主权、提高学生专业认同感以及制定科学合理的学前教育专业教学计划提高其专业承诺水平,消除其学习倦怠心理。  相似文献

通过对中学生学习倦怠的调查,了解中学生学习倦怠的年级和性别特征,探索其发展变化规律.采用《个人基本情况调查表》和《中学生学习倦怠问卷》对353名中学生进行测查,发现中学生学习倦怠处于中等水平,学习低效能感和生理耗竭因子得分偏高;师生疏离因子性别差异显著,男生的师生疏离程度高于女生;初一到高三中学生学习倦怠的水平基本呈直线上升趋势,高二在6个年级中倦怠水平最高;学习倦怠的年级差异显著,初一、初二与高中各年级均存在显著性差异,年级与性别之间的交互作用显著.中学生学习倦怠处于中等水平;学习倦怠水平随年级的增高呈直线上升趋势;学习倦怠的年级差异显著,年级与性别之间的交互作用显著.  相似文献

OBJECTIVE: The goal of this study was to understand better the risk of compassion fatigue (the trauma suffered by the helping professional) and burnout (emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and reduced sense of personal accomplishment), and the potential for compassion satisfaction (the fulfillment from helping others and positive collegial relationships) among Colorado county child protection staff using the Compassion Satisfaction/Fatigue Self-Test [Figley, C. R., & Stamm, B. H. (1996). Psychometric review of Compassion Fatigue Self-Test. In B. H. Stamm (Ed.), Measurement of stress, trauma, and adaptation (pp. 127-130). Lutherville, MD: Sidran Press]. An additional goal was to test the relationship of these three constructs to each other. METHOD: A self-report instrument developed by Stamm and Figley was used to measure the risk of compassion fatigue and burnout and the potential for compassion satisfaction among 363 child protection staff participating in a secondary trauma training seminar. RESULTS: Participants were significantly more likely to have high risk of compassion fatigue, extremely low risk of burnout, and good potential for compassion satisfaction. Participants with high compassion satisfaction had lower levels of compassion fatigue (p=.000; mean=35.73 high compassion satisfaction group, mean=43.56 low group) and lower levels of burnout (p=.000; mean=32.99 high compassion satisfaction group, mean=41.69 low group). CONCLUSION: Approximately 50% of Colorado county child protection staff suffered from "high" or "very high" levels of compassion fatigue. The risk of burnout was considerably lower. More than 70% of staff expressed a "high" or "good" potential for compassion satisfaction. We believe compassion satisfaction may help mitigate the effects of burnout.  相似文献

The relationships among teacher occupational stressors, self‐efficacy, coping resources, and burnout were investigated in a sample of 247 Spanish secondary school teachers. Concretely, two specific aims were formulated in order to examine the effect of teaching stressors on teacher burnout and the role of self‐efficacy and school coping resources as mediator or moderator variables in the stressor–burnout relationship. Teachers reported that when their pedagogical practice in the school setting was being interfered with or hindered by a set of factors from the multiple contexts involved in students’ learning, problems of burnout occurred. In addition, results revealed that teachers with a high level of self‐efficacy and more coping resources reported suffering less stress and burnout than teachers with a low level of self‐efficacy and fewer coping resources, and vice versa.  相似文献

Despite teacher self-efficacy and burnout’s influence on student outcomes, little research has been conducted on teacher self-efficacy and burnout in residential treatment schools. This study attempts to fill this need by examining the self-efficacy and burnout of teachers and paraeducators in a residential treatment school in the United States. We explore the relationships between educators’ perceptions of school supports and educators’ sense of self-efficacy and burnout Our results revealed that while educators’ perceptions of school supports were not related to educators’ sense of efficacy, there was a significant relationship between educators’ perceptions of school supports and reported levels of burnout. Educators who reported lower levels of school supports had high levels of burnout. We discuss implications for larger studies on this topic and for supporting educator well-being in residential treatment schools.  相似文献

目的:考察高职学生的特质自我控制水平对其学业倦怠的预测作用.方法:采用《特质自我控制量表》和《大学生学业倦怠量表》对366名高职学生施测,并采用多层次回归分析对数据进行统计.结果:城镇生源学生比农村生源学生表现出更多学习不当行为(P<0.05);男生在情绪低落维度上的得分显著高于女生(P<0.05);特质自我控制与学业倦怠各维度上的得分以及总体得分存在显著的负相关(P<0.01);在人口统计学变量后,特质自我控制对学业倦怠各维度以及总体得分均存在显著的负向预测作用(P<0.01),方差解释率达到16%至26%.结论:高职学生的特质自我控制是学业倦怠的一个重要保护性因子.  相似文献

This study focuses on teachers’ general and diversity-related burnout in relation to teachers’ attitudes toward multiculturalism. Results are based on the responses of 120 teachers working at five different urban, ethnically diverse junior vocational high schools in the Netherlands. Analyses indicated that teachers with assimilative attitudes exhibited higher levels of general and diversity-related burnout, whereas there was no relationship between pluralistic attitudes and burnout. In addition, there were no relationships between teacher background variables and attitude and burnout, besides the finding that native teachers experienced less general burnout, and had less pluralistic attitudes, than nonnative teachers.  相似文献

采用量表法对315名不同性别、学科的大学二、三年级学生进行了学习倦怠的研究,并进一步考察了学习倦怠与人格特征的关系。结果表明:当前大二、大三学生存在中等程度学习倦怠情况,男生在成就感低和行为不当上都要好于女生,在成就感低上大三学生比大二学生更严重,文科和理科学生在学习倦怠各维度上的得分都显著高于医科和工科学生,文科和理科学生的学习倦怠情况更严重。另外,人格变量对学习倦怠有显著的预测效果。  相似文献

采用教师职业倦怠问卷量表对10所高职高专院校的78名辅导员进行调查,以揭示该类院校辅导员职业倦怠现状。调查结果显示:被测辅导员在情绪衰竭、去人格化、低成就感三个维度上的职业倦怠检出率分别为16.67%、6.41%、47.44%。三个维度在婚姻和学历方面不存在显著性差异;女性在低成就感上的均值显著高于男性(P0.05),而在情绪衰竭、去人格化维度上男、女无显著性差异。不同转岗态度与职业倦怠程度呈正相关。文章还探讨了职业倦怠的致因,提出了针对性的干预对策。  相似文献
