为满足用户对留学人物地域信息进行查询、展示与分析的需求,提出基于Google Maps API实现GIS应用的解决方案和技术思路。利用Google Maps APIJ、avaScript、PHP、MySQL及相关技术将留学人物数据库与Google地图进行整合,构建留学名人足迹、留学人物分布等GIS应用,以增强数据库可用性并提升用户体验。  相似文献

Abstract

Conceptual modeling of bibliographic data, including the FR models and the consolidated IFLA LRM, has provided an opportunity to shift focus to entities and relationships and to support hierarchical work-based exploration of bibliographic information. This paper reports on a study examining the complexity of a work's bibliographic family data and user interactions with data visualizations, compared to traditional displays. Findings suggest that the FRBR-based visual bibliographic information system supports work families of different complexities more equally than a traditional system. Differences between the two systems also show that the FRBR-based system was more effective especially for related-works and author-related tasks.  相似文献

The National Library of Medicine (NLM) has an extensive collection of environmental health information, including bibliographic and technical data on hazardous chemical substances, in its TOXNET databases. TOXNET also provides access to the United States Environment Protection Agency (EPA)'s Toxics Release Inventory (TRI) data, which covers release of specific chemicals via air, water, and land, and by underground injection, as reported by industrial facilities around the United States. NLM has developed a Web-based geographic information system (GIS), TOXMAP , which allows users to create dynamic maps that show where TRI chemicals are released and that provides direct links to information about the chemicals in TOXNET. By extracting the associated regional geographic text terms from the displayed map (e.g., rivers, towns, county, state), TOXMAP also provides customized chemical and/or region-specific searches of NLM's bibliographic biomedical resources. This paper focuses on TOXMAP's features, data accuracy issues, challenges, user feedback techniques, and future directions.  相似文献

Increased use of geographic information systems on college and university campuses has prompted libraries to ask the question: Where and how can libraries fulfill these digital needs? This paper describes the actions taken by the Syracuse University Library to implement GIS and geo-spatial data services to the University community. Geographic information sources have evolved at the same rate as the many other information sources in the last half a century. This article discusses geographic literacy and spatial thinking, and the questions that derive from geographic inquiry. Librarians in academic libraries are most often called on to meet the complex specialized geographic information needs that arise from study and practice in those areas. The sources we use and the ways we respond to these needs have evolved and expanded with the advent of various digital technologies. In order to be able to work with these new technologies, librarians can develop specialized competencies in geographic information systems (GIS) which allow them to go beyond print maps and atlases in the provision of geographic information.  相似文献

The United States National Library of Medicine (NLM) TOXNET® databases <http://toxnet.nlm.nih.gov> provide broad coverage of environmental health information covering a wide variety of topics, including access to the U.S. Environment Protection Agency (EPA)'s Toxics Release Inventory (TRI) data. The NLM web-based geographic information system (GIS), TOXMAP® <http://toxmap.nlm.nih.gov/>, provides interactive maps which show where TRI chemicals are released into the environment and links to TOXNET for information about these chemicals. TOXMAP also displays locations of Superfund sites on the EPA National Priority List, as well as information about the chemical contaminants at these sites. This column focuses on a new version of TOXMAP which brings it up to date with current web GIS technologies and user expectations.  相似文献

The goal of our research project is to explore the use of new technologies in providing more sophisticated delivery systems for information services in situations where the services of skilled reference librarians are not available. We are working on developing an advanced function workstation equipped with a CD-ROM jukebox of reference books and vocabulary control tools on laser dlsks with keyword access. The user interface will include an expert system to guide users in selecting the types of material best suited to their needs. It will also provide guidance in developing the best search strategy by mapping the terms selected by the users to the more controlled vocabularies of the data bases. Searches that are too broad and yield too much material will be narrowed. Conversely, searches that are too specific will be broadened. The system will also be designed to connect to a full service integrated library network also enabling the user to access the on-line card catalog, check circulation and do interlibrary loans. In developing this system we will be taking advantage of many new technologies including the advanced function workstations, expert systems components, hypertext and optical disk storage.  相似文献

Through a nationwide survey of potential public library closures from 1999–2003 (the most recent federal dataset at the time of the study), the researchers assessed the reasons for public library closure, actions taken to alleviate possible loss of library services and resources, and the potential effects on users from the librarians' perspective. Geographic information systems (GIS) was used to analyze the demographics and socioeconomics of the geographic market areas around permanently closed library facilities and compared with national averages from the 2000 U.S. Census. The study found a variety of factors lead to closure; however, a lack of use, a sudden reduction in funding, and the opening of another library facility were the most common closure reasons. The actions taken by the community or library system to alleviate the loss of library services and resources depended on the circumstances of each closure. The geographic market areas around permanently closed facilities tended to include poorer and less educated patrons, and more renters than homeowners when compared to the national average from the 2000 U.S. Census. The study presents a methodology using GIS to describe libraries' geographic market areas and illustrates the need for further exploration into reasons for public library closures and the effects of facility site location, relocation, and permanent closure on potential users.  相似文献

通过对图书馆用户满意和用户需求的研究成果进行梳理,分析图书馆用户满意的构成维度、影响因素、用户需求特征,以及用户需求与满意之间的关系;从需求角度出发,构建图书馆用户满意度模型.采用问卷法对高校图书馆和公共图书馆的用户进行调查以收集原始数据,采用结构方程模型进行模型验证.研究发现:用户需求与感知的不一致会直接影响其对图书馆的满意度;图书馆用户整体满意度由信息资源满意、信息服务满意、信息系统满意组成,这三种满意度分别都会正向影响图书馆整体满意度;信息资源满意会正面影响信息系统满意,信息服务满意会正面影响信息资源满意,而信息系统满意也会正面影响信息服务满意.  相似文献

如今,战略性新兴产业已经提升到国家战略地位。从产业层面上来看,因为产业信息资源是企业层面信息资源的集合,所以产业层面的信息需求具有更多的共性。本文通过厘清战略性新兴产业共性化信息需求块资源模型、机理结构模型和三维驱动模型,来分析战略性新兴产业共性化信息需求机理。文章提出了产品数据信息、运营数据信息、用户需求数据信息和品牌数据信息块资源模型。在其结构关系中,产业和企业的持续发展,最基本的结构元素是"产品"。因此,以产品为核心的信息需求则成为结构机理的核心要素。在驱动关系中,用户需求驱动、效益驱动和网络结构凝聚驱动三维驱动模型驱动着信息需求在产业-企业-产品-用户的结构模型中服务于产品。基于所提出的模型,本文以战略性新兴产业专业知识服务系统为例,为系统完善提出未来发展的建议,旨在为我国战略性新兴产业相关信息资源服务平台提供依据和参考,进而推动战略性新兴产业的运行与发展。  相似文献

Programs for geospatial support at academic libraries have evolved over the past decade in response to changing campus needs and developing technologies. Geospatial applications have matured tremendously in this time, emerging from specialty tools to become broadly used across numerous disciplines. At many universities, the library has served as a central resource allowing students and faculty across academic departments access to GIS resources. Today, as many academic libraries evaluate their spaces and services, GIS and data services are central in discussions on how to further engage with patrons and meet increasingly diverse researcher needs. As library programs evolve to support increasingly technical data and GIS needs, many universities are faced with similar challenges and opportunities. To explore these themes, data and GIS services librarians and GIS specialists from five universities—the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Texas A&M, New York University, North Carolina State University, and California Polytechnic State University—with different models of library geospatial and data support, describe their programs to help identify common services, as well as unique challenges, opportunities, and future plans.  相似文献

This paper discusses issues relating to the organization of a campus wide information system which is based upon the Gopher protocol. In an effort to develop guidelines for both collection developnent and classification of Gopher resources, the Library undertook a study of, what is popularly b w n as, Gopherspace. The results of that study provide an overview of various Gopher models and their pwpose., the types of resources typically found on campus wide information systems which use the Gopher protocol, and the ways in which Gophers are urganized The paper concludes with recommendations for the development of coherent collection development policies and organizational schemas which reflect the primary user community's needs and interests.  相似文献

Is your library market-driven, product-driven or customer-driven? New internet-based data and tools are now available for public libraries that enable you to be customer-driven—for your own unique service area. This article shows how three library systems are using these tools—focused on market segmentation data and geographic information system (GIS) technology—to deliver more relevant customer services. Each solution described in the article was developed in close collaboration between CIVICTechnologies and the library, involving research to understand the library's objectives and desired outcomes, and using the data needed to meet each library's unique challenge.  相似文献
