我国图书情报研究生学位授权“四个十年”研究   总被引:1,自引:1,他引:0  
研究生教育作为高层次的学校教育,担负着培养本领域高级人才的重任。本文在政策研究、问卷调查、专家访谈、实地调查的基础上,以学位授权为线索,将改革开放以来我国图书情报学科研究生教育划分为四个十年,总结我国图书情报研究生教育升级、发展与创新的历程。图书情报事业快速发展、图书情报教学改革、图书情报职业发展、图书情报业务创新等因素都是推动图书情报研究生教育发展的内在动力。未来要进一步保持图书馆学教育的价值,适应新型信息环境,培养中国特色、世界一流的图书馆情报人才;还要推动学术学位与专业学位教育协调发展,加大图书情报专业学位授权力度,大力提升毕业生的实践创新能力。参考文献39。  相似文献

This article examines the historical development and current state of professional librarian training in Uzbekistan. It aims to determine the main challenges that face LIS education in that country. The article begins with a brief literature review and some historical background on library education in Uzbekistan prior to the dissolution of the Soviet Union. It then describes the educational activities of the Department of Library-Information Systems at Tashkent University of Information Technologies, which is the only institution in Uzbekistan currently offering graduate degrees in librarianship.  相似文献

This paper explores information ethics (IE) education within LIS (Library and Information Studies/Science) schools in Africa to investigate the following: (i) the extent to which IE is necessary; (ii) who should offer IE and why; (iii) who should be taught IE (and at what level); (iv) how long IE education should take; and (v) what should be included in an IE course. This was accomplished through a literature review and a case study conducted via email with purposely selected LIS experts from around Africa. Overwhelmingly, the LIS experts agreed that information ethics should be offered by LIS departments in courses that account for the multidisciplinary nature of the subject and that it should be made available to all students at all levels. The content should be objective and outcomes-based or outcomes-driven. The challenges and opportunities enumerated in this study could potentially be used to set the agenda for further research and professional engagement.  相似文献

信息学院运动(简称iSchool运动)目前成为美国图书情报界特别是教育领域发展的新趋势,为美国图书馆情报学(LIS)教育注入新的活力。美国《新闻和世界报道》2007年版排名前10位的LIS学校全部参加了iSchool运动,主要以这10所iSchool为代表,介绍美国iSchool发展现状以及包括学院定位、课程建设、学生教育和学术研究等方面的特征,以期发现美国LIS教育发展趋势和成功经验,为我国LIS教育的改革和发展提供参考。  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Education for library cataloging and the organization of information (OI) continues to evolve. The current condition of graduate courses in these areas is examined through a review of the curricula of the 56 ALA-accredited graduate schools of library and information sciences (LIS) in the United States and Canada. This article, the second installment of a longitudinal study that began in 2000 to examine the state of cataloging education, contains a snapshot of this component of LIS education from the 2005–2006 academic year. It examines the types of OI courses being offered, the number of these courses actually being taught, and current trends and developments in cataloging education based on comparisons with earlier studies.  相似文献

The information intents theory strives to explain how and why information is used. In this research the theory was used to discover what happens when online LIS graduate students exchange and use information in threaded discussions. The primary source of data was 33 discussion threads, in which students exhibited cognitive and affective intents and were influenced by their instructor's immediacy in the online classroom. This research provides insight for LIS education, instructional design, and other disciplines that utilize distance education technologies.  相似文献

A recent American Library Association (ALA) report has shown that less than 1% of credentialed librarians are African American males. This article discusses possible reasons for this dearth; and, in an effort to inform future LIS recruiting and marketing campaigns, the included study attempted to discover which factors lead African American males to choose to pursue a graduate degree in library and information science (LIS) and practice LIS as a career. The study also canvassed African American male librarians’ views on gender advantage in LIS, their career goals, perceived triumphs and challenges in LIS, and level of job satisfaction.  相似文献

Abstract

Although the field of crisis management has grown considerably, academic curricula do not seem to have kept pace. This study investigates how library and information science (LIS) programs are addressing the need to provide adequate and relevant crisis management course content, so as to better empower librarians and other information professionals during community-based disasters and unpredictable circumstances. Twenty-eight ALA-accredited MLIS programs were evaluated. A four-phase model for evaluating crisis management content in LIS education (CM-LIS) has been developed. Crisis management topics were identified and categorized under the four phases: landscape survey, strategic planning, crisis management, and organizational learning. Six broad LIS subject modules were also identified to analyze the percentage of coverage of these topics. In the 264 course syllabi evaluated, curricula indirectly prepare librarians on how to meet and respond to crises and disasters within their communities; however, in many cases, this is given low priority. There is not a strong consideration for natural disasters and the societal calamities and unrest that dominate the media and occupy the minds of individual communities. This study gives insight into crisis-management education within LIS graduate degrees and should stimulate additional research to further investigate the preparedness of librarians and other information professionals to interact with communities in need in times of crises.  相似文献
