The Financing of Extension Services: A Survey Among Rural Youth in Greece

Abstract

Since its establishment in the early 1950s, the Greek Extension Service has undergone considerable changes. Especially after 1981, a bureaucratic–administrative role related to the implementation of the CAP has been undertaken. In parallel, in the international scene, governments have started experimenting with various cost-recovery mechanisms for extension. In front of such challenges, at both national and international levels, the current work intends to explore the willingness of young rural inhabitants to pay for advisory services. Drawing data from a large-scale survey and utilising probit analysis, the decomposition of the marginal effects of a series demographic, socioeconomic and spatial characteristics and information needs upon willingness to pay for extension is presented. The results show that under preconditions cost-recovery mechanisms may be employed in Greece; furthermore, it is argued that the Extension Service has to be restructured–reoriented.  相似文献

严复是中国历史上第一个真正全面了解西方思想文化的思想家,也是中国近代史上第一个全面系统宣传介绍西方资产阶级政治、思想和文化的启蒙思想家。他在引介西学过程中,通过翻译西学著作和撰写书评,对西方古典时期的思想文化进行了介绍,从而将古希腊罗马历史文化知识引入了中国。严复引介传播西方古典文化的工作,为维新变法和启蒙运动提供了思想文化武器,开阔了国人的视野,在一定程度上满足了国人了解外国历史的需求,也激发了青年人探寻世界知识和外国文化的热情。  相似文献   

亚里士多德对古希腊雅典宪法改革的哲学政治学取向论要

以往的学人对亚里士多德的哲学、政治学的认定和评断,基本上都称亚氏主张“中庸之道”,是“奴隶主里中间层的代言人”,在政治上主张“调和阶级矛盾。拯救奴隶制城邦的崩溃”等等。虽然此说不无道理,但也有失偏颇。若对亚氏的《雅典政制》进行深入分析,可以至少得出亚里士多德五方面的哲学、政治学取向。即亚里士多德抨击“寡头政治”和“王者政府”,力主社会改革;总结改革成果,开创比较政治的先河,理论上弘扬民主政治;提出取消“部落差”、村民个人地位差等一系列的多人参政、平等的民主手段;在总结国家组织职能基础上,提出了分权政治的“三权分立”主张的雏形：倡导和提出了清政防腐的主张和手段。  相似文献

从运动员收入来源和竞技水平的角度上看,古希腊竞技职业化由来已久。至迟自公元前6世纪起,职业运动员就活跃于竞技舞台,公元前5世纪职业化已成为一种普遍现象。对城邦而言,竞技职业化有利于强化希腊人的民族认同感,有利于传播希腊文明;对运动员而言,它能保障现役运动员在聘请教练、置办设备、旅行居住、招待祭祀、建造塑像等方面的正常开支,并为将来进一步发展提供良好平台。古典作家的批判一方面源于他们根深蒂固的贵族意识,另一方面与社会环境变化相关;现代作家的批判与顾拜旦对业余体育大力提倡及当时运动水平有关。  相似文献

Lewis Wickes Hine exploited the powerful impact of the visual image to arouse the reforming spirit among the middle and upper classes and to inspire them to do something about the living and working conditions of thousands of America's poor. Hine was acquainted with many of the men and women who were involved in the Progressive social reform campaigns that were popular in the United States during the early twentieth century. A trained sociologist, he became interested in photography while teaching at the Ethical Culture School. Hine quickly realized that photographs could be powerful instruments of social reform and was able to effectively combine his interests in social welfare and photography. Hine believed that this efforts as a photographer should be guided by a social conscience and referred to his work as "social photography." His photographs of men, women and children enduring dangerous and inhuman working conditions were both sensitive and intense. As a result of his social conscience and artistic commitment Hine raised the cultural and social awareness of his contemporaries and made a significant contribution to social reform efforts in the United States.  相似文献
