全美数学教师理事会(NCTM)非常注重学校数学评价问题,提出的具体评价标准包括:数学标准(The mathematics standard)、学习标准(The learning standard)、公平标准(The equity standard)、开放标准(The openness standard)、推断标准(The inferences standard)和关联标准(The coherence standard)等,并且对数学教学评价的理念和方法都作了比较深入的探讨.我国也开始研究发展性评价等理论和方法,由于综合评价的指标体系的广泛使用,发展性评价始终没有得到真正的贯彻实施.针对这种问题,研究者已经提出了很多评价技术,比如质的评价、成长记录袋评价等.本文从评价科学性的角度分析目前教学评价存在的问题,供大家探讨.  相似文献

The aim of this action research project was to identify criteria that would best represent competent teaching and incorporate these within an effective teaching appraisal process. An initial literature review provided broad criteria of the process of teaching which had been shown by research to have fostered student learning. These criteria were structured within an initial proposal for an appraisal framework and were shared with staff at. a seminar in the Faculty of Health Studies at the Auckland Institute of Technology. Twelve staff representing six of the departments subsequently volunteered to participate in a research group to further develop this appraisal framework and the appraisal processes. The researcher used the action research processes of collaboration, power sharing and critical reflection to maximise the quality of and the commitment to the new appraisal procedures. This appraisal model features four dimensions of the teaching process which have been differentiated from the wider duties of a teacher's role. It was implemented in the Faculty promotion round, evaluated, and further upgraded for re‐implementation in the following year. The project has resolved several theoretical problems related to evaluating teaching. It has also produced a framework of valid appraisal criteria which can be used to effectively evaluate the quality of teaching. This appraisal process is considered to be based upon generalisable knowledge which could be utilised by other teaching organisations.  相似文献

Two inherently contradictory forces are pushing for reform in portfolio assessment. On the one hand there is a felt need for creating more rigid standards that operate to promote uniformity of ratings in appraisal practice to certify achievement. However, on the other hand, critical questions are being raised about separating acclaimed portfolio goals aimed both at appraising achievement while also improving quality of student learning and development. The position of portfolio assessment, which is widely used nowadays in teaching and teacher education, comes into debate. In our study, we look for actual practices in portfolio appraisal in search of criteria used for rating the quality of portfolio materials. It is our interest to find out how appraisal criteria are selected and used to evaluate achievement or to improve the quality of development and learning. In the context of teacher education, we have examined both the espoused criteria of both assessors and collectors of portfolios as well as the actual appraisal practices by looking at the judgmental orientations and supervision styles used by portfolio assessors. In addition, we offered an authentic portfolio document to be rated by different assessors to gauge and compare their quality of rating and criteria use. The actual processes we detected point to a most common practice of employing judgmental, usually normative evaluations based on assessor dependent, more or less pre-decided criteria which permit a “checkbox” approach to appraisal.  相似文献

This paper argues that the scheme of appraisal agreed between NATFHE and college employers is capable of implementation in a developmental manner that is compatible with the ideal of further education teaching being a professional practice. As research on student evaluations of teaching (SET) has dominated our understanding of teaching evaluation, debate over SET implementation has turned attention away from basic principles for appraising employee performance as established in human resources literature. Considering SET research and its practical significance in isolation from relevant human resources literature not only risks unlawful remedies for issues such as bias in SET but also risks replacing one form of bias with another. Meanwhile, the full potential of human resources tools to support consistent evaluation of teaching remains unrealized. To address this gap, this article clarifies how teaching evaluation can be conducted as sound performance appraisal by deploying SET and peer review of teaching within a larger framework of established human resources techniques. A review of recent literature articulates prominent themes in research on SET and peer review of teaching and outlines key principles for performance appraisal and performance management. Those principles are used to analyze representative faculty evaluation policies and procedures and clarify the weaknesses of both traditional and recently revised approaches to teaching evaluation. The final section elaborates performance appraisal techniques relevant to teaching evaluation. These include planful use of results and/or behavior approaches to performance appraisal, robust rating instruments for behavioral performance appraisal, targeted collection of information from multiple stakeholders, and job analysis. Efforts to de-emphasize quantitative SET data to address issues such as bias can be strengthened through the incorporation of performance appraisal tools that clearly articulate performance criteria and standards and that gather both qualitative and quantitative data on employee performance.  相似文献
