The hierarchy of the formation of a more complex system from a less complicated one is considered based on the association of another neighboring entity of the same order with the latter, a circumstance that is actually the raison d’etre for a less complicated system, while also being an integrative property of a more complex whole. We suggest that communication be understood as a property of any system, which would enable one to perceive the nature of the system as being an integrated whole consisting of its three integrated components, i.e., inanimate nature, animate nature, and society. The difference between the concepts of a library as an organization and of a library as a social institution is emphasized. A unified model of a social institution is proposed based on the respective organizations.  相似文献

This study illustrates the potential role of model and anti-model arguments in organizational crisis communication. Specifically, model and anti-model arguments are described as a strategy for moving the focus of a crisis from an organization to its industry. Model arguments enable organizations to establish their corrective action as industry standards that merit imitation. Conversely, organizations can set minimum standards for their industries with anti-model arguments. Phil Knight's May 12, 1998, speech announcing Nike's new initiatives in global manufacturing is analyzed as a case study. The essay concludes that model and anti-model arguments can suspend criticism of the organization, create the foundation for a return to industry prominence by the organization, and establish proposed new industry standards that are favorable to the organization.  相似文献

Successful hospital and corporate libraries offer customized resources and services to meet the needs of their dynamic organizations. Concepts such as customer-driven, service-oriented and value-added are central to these libraries. Serving decision markers and integrating the library into the decision-making process of the organization is critical. [目的/意义] 突发公共卫生事件直接影响图书馆的运营和用户需求,采取积极有效的措施应对这一影响有助于图书馆提升服务能力和增强核心竞争力。国外图书馆组织采取的应对措施可为国内图书馆组织提供借鉴与思考。[方法/过程] 运用网络调查和文献调研的方法,选取国外13家图书馆组织开展调研,对其在网站主页发布的应对新冠肺炎的声明、通知、公告等进行内容分析和案例研究,总结其整体要点,为国内图书馆组织应对突发公共卫生事件提供参考。[结果/结论] 调研结果显示,国外图书馆组织应对措施总体特征为:充分体现人文关怀、确保信息真实可靠、保障用户资源获取、寻求优秀实践案例。建议国内图书馆组织及时发布应对措施声明、强化需求为本基础理念、提升网络信息资源保障能力、注重实施泛信息素养教育、增强汲取优秀实践案例意识以完善措施提升应对策略。  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Effective communication is one of the most important resources for successful outreach efforts. This article addresses the benefits that can emerge from successful communication as well as the negative effects that may stem from ineffective communication. A case study of Florida Gulf Coast University Archives, Special Collections, & Digital Initiatives' outreach efforts among local cultural heritage organizations will demonstrate methods used to approach these organizations and subsequent results. After attempting to provide several organizations with professional assistance regarding digitization and digital preservation of historic records, Archives, Special Collections, & Digital Initiatives sought to establish a formalized outreach approach. While there is a large amount of literature discussing broad outreach efforts, few articles delve into specific communication methods, potential benefits, and possible drawbacks. This article will show that with specific methods of communication, outreach can prove advantageous for both the community organization in need and the library institution providing the service.  相似文献

This calls for a new paradigm of leadership, the "acknowledge-create-empower" paradigm as developed by Evered and Selman. The author describes this model and its application to library organizations. The core values and leadership philosophy for empowering staff are explained. Libraries are considered safe spaces to explore different topics facilitating the sharing of knowledge so it would appear that colle giality and civility are cornerstones of our service. But within our organizations, collegiality is not always stressed as an important value within the workplace. Civility and collegiality are important for libraries as they are the foundation of our public services and support diversity of ideas and open communication within the workplace. Collegiality standards are set by the leaders and managers within an organization and this column will explore the need for civility standards to successfully achieve library goals.

Column Editor’s NoteLeadership skills are essential to creating libraries that are effective and relevant to their communities. While some individuals seem to possess inherent leadership capabilities, it is possible to develop and strengthen skills to effectively lead a department, unit, or organization. [目的/意义] 为使图书情报机构能全面获取用户真实信息,准确感知用户兴趣和偏好,实施有针对性的个性化信息推送服务,提出一种可信第三方的用户个人信息获取模型。[方法/过程] 该模型通过构建第三方平台存储个人信息,并向用户与图书情报机构提供个人信息管理与应用服务,实现精准的个性化信息推送服务,提高图书情报机构信息资源的利用率。[结果/结论] 可信第三方平台的提出可以克服以下不足:①目前在图书情报机构资源平台注册的用户,其个人信息易被恶意攻击的黑客和某些不良资源商私自传播、滥用和篡改;②部分缺乏安全感的用户使用虚假信息注册;③图书情报机构通过 IP地址认证合法用户的方式不能有效地管理和服务用户。  相似文献

图书馆联盟知识转移是发生在联盟成员之间的知识转移,具有"组织间"和"组织内"双重性以及动态复杂等特点。在图书馆联盟知识转移中存在"知识粘滞障碍"和"知识嵌入障碍"。障碍消除需要以建立图书馆联盟知识共享文化为主导,以制度安排和技术利用为辅助的解决方案。知识转移过程可以看作是障碍消除的过程。在此认识基础上可以建立基于障碍消除的图书馆联盟知识转移模式。  相似文献

Because tasks and materials related to serials processing and use are often dispersed in a library, serials specialists must develop personal influence strategies and use informal communication systems that cross organizational lines and boundaries. In the absence of a serials department, therefore, serials specialists and informal serials communication systems will continue to exist. There is wide agreement that informal communication systems do emerge spontaneously in organizations and that individuals without formally conferred authority may use various types of personal influence strategies to accomplish organizational objectives. While serials processing and public service could be most efficiently handled through a serials department, informal communication systems, utilized by serials specialists, will develop if such a department does not exist. In determining if a serials department has a place in a particular library organization, library planners should be concerned about natural communication channels and should, in addition, try to identify individuals who can communicate effectively across organizational barriers.  相似文献

面向服务的体系结构、对等网络和网格技术的发展为数字图书馆体系结构的研究和应用带来了新的机遇,使其在开放性和柔韧性方面的拓展成为可能。下一代数字图书馆应当是能为更多用户服务的、自适应性更强的服务组织,它是以联邦模式进行资源库的构建和服务的组织。与传统的数字图书馆相比,下一代数字图书馆的体系结构将更为分布和动态,从而适应资源库、元数据和服务所呈现出的高度异构性。本文通过几个数字图书馆研究项目,对下一代数字图书馆的体系结构进行了分析讨论,并就其信息访问的主要方面(资源管理、信息检索)所面临的机遇和挑战进行了探讨,给出了相应的解决方案。  相似文献
