This article addresses an approach to library services for people who are incarcerated that meets the situated information needs and desires of people within jails and prisons. By creating a flow of information between LIS students and individuals who are incarcerated through a Reference by Mail program, resources available to incarcerated people are increased while students engage in a humanizing and self-reflexive project, with the understanding that the regulation of information within jails and prisons has lasting effects for the life chances of incarcerated people.  相似文献

为了对我国图书情报硕士培养单位的教师状况有一个整体了解,促进图书情报学学科的健康发展,调查了有关院系的网页、各种数据库,利用集体传记研究法分析我国图书情报硕士培养单位副教授以上职称教师群体年龄段、学历、学科背景的特征,以及论文产出和承担项目方面的情况,发现我国图书情报硕士培养单位教师群体的总体状况较好,但是也存在年龄段过于集中、学科结构单一等不利于突出图书情报学学科的应用型特征,这有可能制约学科发展。  相似文献

健康信息学是实践性很强的交叉学科。随着大数据技术及数字医疗产业的快速发展,加强健康信息学教育,培养具有大数据知识与技术应用能力的健康信息学队伍,是“健康中国”时代和国家战略发展的必然需求。文章通过网络调研和内容分析法,以7所经过美国图书馆协会(ALA)认证的美国图书情报学院(LIS学院)为研究样本,讨论大数据时代健康信息学(Health Informatics,HI)教育在大数据相关课程方面的开设特点;分析加入iSchools联盟的中国6所LIS学院健康信息学教育状况,并与美国7所LIS学院进行比较,对我国开展包含一定数量大数据相关课程的健康信息学教育提出建议。  相似文献

During post-analytical phase, critical value notification to responsible caregiver in a timely manner has potential to improve patient safety which requires cooperative efforts between laboratory personnel and caregivers. It is widely accepted by hospital accreditors that ineffective notification can lead to diagnostic errors that potentially harm patients and are preventable. The objective of the study was to assess the variables affecting critical value notification, their role in affecting it’s quality and approaches to improve it. In the present study 1,187 critical values were analysed in the Clinical Chemistry Laboratory catering to tertiary care hospital for neuropsychiatric diseases. During 25 months of study period, we evaluated critical value notification with respect to clinical care area, caregiver to whom it was notified and timeliness of notification. During the study period (25 months), the laboratory obtained 1,279 critical values in clinical chemistry. The analytes most commonly notified were sodium and potassium (20.97 & 20.8 % of total critical results). Analysis of critical value notification versus area of care showed that critical value notification was high in ICU and emergency area followed by inpatients and 64.61 % critical values were notified between 30 and 120 min after receiving the samples. It was found that failure to notify the responsible caregiver in timely manner represent an important patient safety issue and may lead to diagnostic errors. The major area of concern are notification of critical value for outpatient samples, incompleteness of test requisition forms regarding illegible writing, lack of information of treating physician and location of test ordering and difficulty in contacting the responsible caregiver.  相似文献

The rapid increase of smartphone usage in recent years has provided students the opportunity to participate in mobile learning (m-learning) anywhere, anytime. Academic institutions are also following this trend to launch many m-learning services. This article investigates the differences of the user needs between undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) students though an online survey with 140 Library Information Systems (LIS) subjects in a Japanese university in order to provide solid foundations for future m-learning studies. We find that UG and PG students do not show significant differences in adopting m-learning by smartphones despite the fact that they have different learning patterns. The m-learning frequencies of smartphones generally range from weekly to monthly, where using search engines is the most frequent, and reading academic resources is the least frequent. They tend to use these services for handling their daily routines (such as search engine, social networks) rather than their academic activities (such as using online databases to search for academic materials). Further, the results also show that content displaying issues (e.g., small display screen, text unable to enlarge) are barriers for most subjects in using these m-learning services.  相似文献

In library and information science (LIS), mentoring is often viewed as a significant influence on student choices and professional career directions. Most mentoring programs are built around the idea of a ‘seasoned’ or experienced professional working with an individual who is new to the profession. There is a common assumption of the mentoring process being a primarily one-way relationship – with the mentor sharing knowledge with a mentee. However, in our recent research, it is clear that mentoring is often seen as a much more reciprocal relationship. What does this mean for how we, as a profession, should try to create mentoring opportunities?  相似文献

The aim of this study is to better understand the prevalence, scope, and unique challenges of undergraduate and first year librarians over the last decade, through the use of quantitative and qualitative data from job listings, online surveys, and phone interviews. The findings indicate that there is very little consensus about what the undergraduate librarian does, how the work is structured on a daily basis, and how its goals are negotiated and assessed. Further, undergraduate librarians face a number of issues, including navigating vaguely defined responsibilities, establishing their professional credibility, and communicating their role within the library and to the university. Survey participants reported experiencing tension between the traditional (reference, instruction, collection development) and undergraduate-specific aspects of their duties, indicating that it is difficult for them to prioritize engagement and outreach. While the literature on blended librarianship anticipates some of these issues, undergraduate librarians are unique because they provide an intersection between broader higher education priorities and the academic library. The author stipulates that the lack of definition, strain, and the perception of undergraduate librarianship as an entry-level position is incongruent with the importance colleges and universities place on undergraduate student success.  相似文献

[目的/意义]从文献内容角度了解图书情报学(LIS)领域对循证科学的研究进展,重点分析主要的研究主题及近年研究方向,同时进行国际与国内的对比。[方法/过程]从Web of Science核心合集、CNKI和万方数据库的核心期刊中检索LIS领域关于循证科学的研究。使用内容分析法,从年发文量、所属学科领域对目标文献集进行统计分析,并重点从学科交叉研究、LIS学科职能及其研究对象两种视角分析其研究主题及近5年的研究主题,同时进行国际与国内对比。[结果/结论]LIS领域的循证科学研究涉及医学、护理及卫生保健、政策科学、信息系统、教育学等多个学科领域;最终将LIS领域关于循证科学的主要研究主题总结为10类,其中"图情机构服务及图书馆员的专业发展"和"证据来源及获取方法、技术"为核心主题;无论是从涉及的学科领域及主题的广度还是对各主题研究的深度而言,国内均相对较弱。  相似文献

文章总结了本人在广州康软信息公司参与研制开发医院检验信息系统的设计思路与实现方法.康软LIS研制开发的管理系统界面采用Power Bullder设计,数据库管理采用MSSQL数据库,并且利用SOL语句实现查询和统计,采用ActiveX控件实现数据接收和自动归档。整个管理系统功能全面、界面美观、数据库运行稳定,基本实现了临床实验室管理常用统计和管理功能。达到了当初设计的要求.实现了三级管理模式、当前检测记录与历史信息之间的动态对比、多样化查询与统计功能、人性化的设计与实用工具等创新,是一个能很好地满足临床工作需要且具有良好市场应用前景的软件系统。  相似文献
